Hello David,
I apologise for the delay in replying but unfortunately I am on holiday In bulgaria and have had no internet access therefore havent noticed any new entries to the forum.
I have found this internet cafe and its costing me alot so I must be quick!
Well the swollen rear and beeding first made me think it was egg bound but if you have checked and found nothing then it brings me to a rather annoying end of theories until I can get home and research this further.
Something I have noticed over the years is that Local vets do not have alot of experience with birds, therefore an avian vet would be better.
If possible I suggest that you bathe the rear of your hen, with warm water so that it can reduce the swelling and possibly revealing more and diagnosis may be easier.
