23 riders gathered for the final race of the UEM Supermono Cup season at the Dutch TT circuit of Assen. It was obvious that the battle for the 2008 championship title was going to be between the reigning Champion Mark Lawes and Dutchman Lex van Dijk as the difference between the two of them was only 14 points.

In both qualifying sessions van Dijk and Lawes were flipping coins for best positions but it was at last Lawes who took the pole for the race with a difference of only 0,07 seconds on Dutchman van Dijk !
Italian rider Enrico Cairo qualified as third and Stefan Meiners from Germany completed row one for the race ending as fourth.
Henk From,Jan Frank Bakker,Mark George and Sjoerd van Buiten completed row two for the race.

At the start of the 12 lap race Lawes took a direct lead closely followed by van Dijk and Enrico Cairo as behind them Mark George Henk From and Stefan Meiners were having a dogfight for best positions. Sjoerd van Buiten had to start from the pitlane as his Ducati broke down at the startgrid due to a misfire.
Half way the race Cairo could not follow the leaders anymore and had let to go. Behind him the dogfight continued between George, Meiners and From.In lap 9 van Dijk took over the lead from Lawes and finished finally as first followed with a gap of 1:116 seconds by Lawes.
Cairo, finished 3rd and scored his first podium place of the season as Meiners finished as fourth followed by Henk From and Guest rider Mark George.
With a total score of 162 points team James rider Lawes continued his Championship title for the fourth time (2002-2006-2007 and 2008) and is so far the most successful European Supermono rider as his team boss Mick James scored so far 6 European Supermono Championship titles being the team with the most Championship titles.
