Message:		Dear Forum, I have just returned from a trip to a very beautiful but obscure seventeenth-century manor house in Devon, which now serves as an hotel. There in the drawing room I found a hand carved seabird, about a foot long, bearing the following incription stamped on its wings: "Christie Warren. Pitcarn Islands." Can anyone shed any light on who he is/was and how this carving found its way to such a remote place as Lewtrenchard Manor, Lewdon, West Devon? Regards PN
