Florida?

Hello,

I have been away from computer for awhile. Power has been off two days. We just got a visit from IVAN. I live about 200 miles away from where the eye hit.

My family decided to ride the storm out, since we were a good distance away. I will never stay again. I laid in my living room floor with my two boys, mother, and little sister (both who evacuated from water front property) praying to make it through the night.
A radio powered with batteries informed us of the many tornadoes touching down and destroying homes and lives all around us. We were trapped; all the roads that lead out of the storm had been washed away.

The next day, I learned of the devastation that surround this area and know that I have been blessed.

Was anyone else affected by the storm? Chances are that you may not be able to respond. My aunt will not have power for approx 3 weeks.

My thoughts and prayers are with those who suffered a loose due to this storm. Hopping that soon will come the morning when you can wake to the thought that you to have been blessed with life and family.

Re: Florida?

Glad to hear that you are alright. Though I moved to ohio 4 yrs ago, I am from Panama City. My family still lives there. When I heard that the first 2 fatalities were from P.C. I really got worried about my friends and family. But thankfully they are alright. They had quite a rough ride in P.C. Pensacola and Panama City really got the worst of it because they were on the east side of Ivan. I sure miss Fl. though even with the storms. I hate the snow and cold up here. LOL!

Re: Florida?

Hi Christie,
That must have been so scarey! but I am so glad that all is better now for you and your family & also for Jill Mary's surroundings.

It sure makes me appreciate all that I have, some things you just take for granted like a house, warm bed, electricity....usually I do not think of all my blessings until something like this happens, so thank you for sharing.

Re: Florida?

Hi Christie,

Very happy that you are able to write us with the good news of you and your families safety. I was born and raised in Fla. Just left about 5 yrs ago because my husband is in the military, but both of our entire families are in Auburndale, Polk County where the eye from Charlie and Frances went through. My grandfather is in New Smyrna Bch (where they have been projecting the new hurricane to go) and my best friend is in Dothan, Al where Ivan past by. Thank God they all only lost power for several days and lost a lot of tree limbs and I just lost a lot of hair from worrying so much for them. Unfortunately, their are so many others that lost so much more. I have all of them in my thoughts and prayers, but not just the people I am also praying very hard for all the animals that were abandoned or lost. Again, I am so glad that you and your family are safe and now know to get out next time. Jill Mary, I am also glad that you and your home are well too. Take care and God bless.

Re: Florida?

Oh my gosh, I am so embarrassed I did the same thing because I quickly glanced at Lori's letter for the name because I had forgotten it already when I went to write my letter (Thanks Lori, LOL hahaha). I am so sorry Gina, but truthfully I am suprised sometimes I even know my own name. My husband and his friend always say I should've been a blonde...hahaha...and maybe they were right. Anyways, I was speaking from my heart when I said that I am glad that you and your family are all OK. Take care, God bless, and forgive my memory.

Re: Florida?

Hi,
No worries with the name. Odd things is that my first name is Kristy and I sat here wondering how you both knew who I am before I began to connect Christie's post and then of course reading the your second post.
Thanks to everyone for such warm thoughts.
