Acupuncture...does it work?

I'm considering trying acupuncture and was wondering if any of you ladies have tried it. I know how acupuncture is preformed, but how does it work? And does it really work? I'm a skeptic, but open minded enough to try anything once! Please share your thought and opinions with me, good and bad. And if anyone knows of a good acupuncturist in South Central Pennsylvania let me know.

I've been bleeding for 3 weeks straight now, and I'm exhausted! This morning I woke up "bleeding like a stuck pig!" Enough is ENOUGH! I'm emotional and just plain tired. Well, enough complaining I just had to get that off my chest.

Thanks for taking the time to read...

Love to all,
Paige

Re: Acupuncture...does it work?

Hi Paige,
I copied this from the website:

Acupuncture points and herbal formulas are chosen in accordance to the individual’s TCM diagnosis and can vary from person the person. The acupuncture points commonly used in the treatment of endometriosis can be located on the ears, abdomen, wrists, feet, legs, and back. Needles are usually retained for 20 to 45 minutes. Prescribed herbal formulas vary from person to person. The acupuncture points and herbs chosen help to facilitate the free flow of energy through the body. Some of the points and herbs are used to move blood, break up stagnation and stop pain. Each point and herb selected has its own therapeutic importance in the treatment of endometriosis depending on the TCM diagnosis of the individual.
The treatment of endometriosis with acupuncture usually requires a commitment of enough time to rebalance the body's systems. This will vary from one woman to another, and will be dependant on the severity of the disease.

I only did it 2 times for chronic fatigue, so cannot guage anything. I did feel immediately good after, like I had a massage though. I stopped because I have other treatments now going on through my naturopath dr.

I asked previously at the endo natural site. The consensus was that it needs to be done at least 10 sessions. My opinion is to try the herbal medicine or teas that they may suggest with it, as this can help balance the hormones & build up the immune system. They focus on the liver as the liver is a filter for the hormones.

My next door neighbor was so sick for 6 months-lost 40 pds. & no findings medically. She has been seeing an accupuncturist for a few months & doing great! improving very well. She does take the herbal medicine/tea though with it though.

The bottom line in my opinion is that it can work wonders, but just like everything else, finding the right one can be tough. Can you somehow get a referral to one? also the needles did not hurt me at all.

Let us know how it goes ok
Lori
