Vegetables & more are Estrogen Clearing & -to Margaret & others...

Hi Margaret and other girls!!
You know I have to tell you, I am always thinking of you late night Margaret. I am a late person also. I go to bed about midnight mostly, so when you write on here I am often right here with you.

Maybe sometime we can swim in the ocean together. I remember you love the ocean also. It is my heaven!

One thing my Dr. pushes is major vegetables-cauliflower, brocoli, cabbage, onion, garlic, leeks? She said anything from the cabbage family is estrogen clearing (you know estrogen fuels endo). She said fruit also, but not as important as the veggies.

I really would not have believed this works but it sure does to clear out excess circlating estrogen. I do not mean a small piece of vegetable a day either, I am talking a good amount of veggies everyday.

Isn't is strange though how some foods can act like medicine? really I think I could have avoided that estrogen surge I had. Vegetables really help a lot with energy also.

I guess one thing on its own would not make a major difference, but when combining the diet with other supplements, progesterone cream, fish oil....it should add up to a big difference eventually. Keep in mind though Margaret that You may need something different, more precise in your case that we do not know about. Melanie, Jill and I all have completely different supplements....but the common thread is the progesterone cream, fish oil, diet & exercise.

Anyways you are strong to keep this routine up, it is not easy I know to stay on a good routine, especially when the effects do not kick in immediatly.

Praying it all starts to work for you soon.

Re: Vegetables & more are Estrogen Clearing & -to Margaret & others...

Look at me, I said I was going to bed an hour ago and hear I am , I'm such a goof. I think I might still have to tuck in my husband and our boys too(i think they may have fallen asleep on the couch ; oops.

Hey Lori, I agree and like I said I am not giving up yet because really if I give up then I am going to be in the pain I am in now, but at least w/ me trying I have a chance of running across something that really works for me ; did you catch that? I have no problem w/ eating fruit because I love it. I usually eat it for breakfast or a snack because like salads I crave fruit. Plums, bananas, blueberries(good anti-oxidant), peaches, and frozen strawberries(for smoothies) they are all in my fridge. I like cabbage, but I don't eat it very much because it makes me gassy, . So, I think I just have to keep working w/ my diet and vitamins and see what happens.

Truthfully, I wonder what is really going on inside me because this pain is so excrutiating like never before . It really feels like something is seriously wrong; like maybe something more than endo , but I just have been putting my thoughts aside because their is nothing that can be done until I move. There are alot of good medical facilities in Tx and since I will have the time I will do whatever I can to get some help. I have already located some naturopaths.

Well, their I go again writing a ton . I promise I will have a short post someday, but I had to add a ton of smilies because I discovered a million more and they are just so fun to use . Ok, I seriously I have to go to bed.

Goodnight Lori and I will meet you at the beach ...

That is so funny Margaret. I had no idea all the other funny characters were here. They are so cute!

Oh I agree about the vegetables giving gas. The gas was so bad at the start of this, but you know just like a lot of other natural things your body gets used to it. A little at a time & move up to more....I do not have a problem with gas from veggies anymore. Weird huh.

I make a great soup!!!
Lentils, purple cabbage, carrots, brocolli, scallions, garlic, olive oil....
The soup really does me a lot of good, especially if I eat it everyday.

Just do what you can Margaret, perhaps adding what you can as you go & hopefully you will find a wonderful Dr. to help you more.

Hey, I'll meet ya'll at the beach and bring the longboard! Wahoo. I can't wait to go to Maui next month! Surfs up, sistas! javascript:%20void(0);

No late nights for me anymore ladies. That progesterone cream makes me sleep at night! I think my earlier posts were in the middle of the night though...

Oh as an aside, I reduced my dosage of the cream last week and I'm no longer sleepy during the day. I have noticed, however, that I'm more sensitive to sensations in the pelvic area. I wouldn't classify them as pain, just feeling "something" near the ovaries. I need to tweak things a little more... Although I did do a bit of cheating over the weekend (those few bites of carrot cake and creme brulee were sooo good!) as I was up in the CA Central Coast for a long weekend. Perhaps a connection?

Lori, when are you going to post that soup recipe? Here's a little tip I have for eating lots of broccoli on a daily basis... I dip it in hummus! I do love steamed broccoli but I don't have much time to cook at all (often not home until about 8 PM and I leave between 6:15-6:30 AM) so I eat it raw while sitting at my desk. javascript:%20void(0);

Re: Vegetables & more are Estrogen Clearing & -to Margaret & others...

I was just reading the posts, and it was kind of making me depressed cause the diet didn't help me at all! And I worked so hard on it too! I just can't go on with it, if it isn't helping me, and I can't afford to lose anymore weight! Plus the stress of trying to do with the diet, and trying to get my Mom to get me food and figuring out what to eat, is just too stressful! And I can not handle the extra stress right now! I'm still being very careful, just gonna add things a little at a time, but usually I can't tell if it bothers me or not cause I'm always in pain. But see it also could not be helping me cause my problem could be the IC more than the endo, it's just hard to tell which one causing the pains!
I'll have to try the cabbage, have'nt really had that yet. Don't know how to cook it, or in what ways I can eat it though. Which kinds of cabbages taste the best?
Yeah also my period is late, which is reallllly stressing me, because I never, never get it late! And I don't know why it is, but still got all the fun cramps and pains, just without the blood! What happens if it doesn't come, that's bad isn't it? Blah, need to stop stressing! I need to use those smilies next time to make it fun!

Re: Vegetables & more are Estrogen Clearing & -to Margaret & others...

Hi Rachel,
Well their are times some miss their periods or it comes late...I would not worry about it, no big deal.
Sorry for the pain though, as sometimes we want the period to come & just get it over with.

I am sorry that the diet did not help you. It really does not sound like a good thing for you to do right now anways, as you have a hard time keeping the weight on & figuring out how to do the IC diet at the same time. It is better not to stress yourself out, because stress is not good.

If you can add a little cabbage though & see if you can tolerate it, it may help just a bit.
You can steam it or boil it. I like purple cabbage & then add salt. It can cause gas in the beginning so really just a little bit at at time & work up to a little more later. You will have to see if it gives you gas or not & then guage when to add more.

You can also shred it into a salad, use it with regular lettuce or just on its own. Purple cabbage on its own in a salad is very good. I like it with italian dressing. It is hard to eat in chunks like regular lettuce though, that is why shredded is good or cut into small chunks.

I hope you feel better
Hug

Re: Vegetables & more are Estrogen Clearing & -to Margaret & others...

Hi Melanie also,

I posted the recipe above kind of, I just throw whatever in, I do not measure. I just make sure to add:
lentils, purple cabbage, scallions, garlic,
sometimes carrots,cauliflower, brocolli and celery....
sea salt,pepper
miso soup paste or vegetable boullion cubes

It always comes out different as to what I have on hand.

It does take a while to get everything balanced huh.
I know what you mean about the pressure, but not really pain. This is what happens to me when I have forgotten some doses of the progesterone cream.

I know the endo is their! but it is being supressed.
Talk soon,
Lori

Re: Vegetables & more are Estrogen Clearing & -to Margaret & others...

Lori,
Thanks for the support and encouragement me to stop the diet! I've kind of been stressed about it, and the ladies in the endofoodclub kind of made me feel bad when I posted I was quitting. I know they mean well, but they were just telling me I was doing it all wrong, even though I thought I did pretty good for about 2 and a half months, and that I didn't give it enough time. But I decided I'll focus on the IC diet, and just try to eat healthy but not do the no wheat, diary, etc. endo diet. I just got back from the store, almost got myself some pretzel! But decided not to for now, cause of al lthe salt on them. I got some new veggies to try, some kind of swaush, don't remember the name, and some red cabbage. I'm going to try and make a soup like you do. I have a few times, but it didn'thave quite as many veggies, and had chicken most of the time. I can't have boilion, so my Mom got Legume Boulion, I think it is called, and it's pretty good. So what is Miso Soup paste? Did you get it at the health food store? And also what is scallions?
Well I must be off! Thank you for all the help!! Have a good day!

Re: Vegetables & more are Estrogen Clearing & -to Margaret & others...

Hi Rachel,
Scallions are those long skinny onions.

Do you have the link to the endo food club?

Miso soup paste- I get it at Henry's. It makes a good soup base-it is a soybean paste. My friend Jennifer suggested it to me once and I have been hooked ever since. She also suggested cut up tomatoes on top of the soup when it is done. Very yummy on top of Lentil soup.

I am glad you are not stressing about the diet. Try to do a little at a time. You are doing great!
I pray you can find some relief soon
Lori
