Pain Prevention-something new I read

Hi Girls,

I have been taking evening primrose oil for quite a long time, but I just read this about fish also! I had no idea and also black currant oil. Actually I do not even know what black currant oil is. Just thought I would post this. Of course this is not immediate relief, but another way on top of other things perhaps to prevent cramps/pain.

Evening Primrose oil has had good results for many women both for Endometriosis and PMS. It contains a polyunsaturated fatty acid known as gamma linolenic acid, which seems to block the releases of cytokines and prostaglandins, substances that are manufactured by the endometrium and are involved in uterine muscle contraction and cramping. Foods that contain gamma linolenic acid are black currant oil and cold-water fish.

Their are actually a lot of other foods that do this also, I will post another time about them. Actually their is an article on this forum(at the end) about prostaglandins-a little hard to read, but very informative.

Have a nice Weekend girls. I hope it is pain free for all of you.
I am going to a concert tonight-swithchfoot(christian rock band)

with my lovely friend Wendy(prayer partner)so will be thinking and praying for you.

Re: Pain Prevention-something new I read

Great post, Lori.

I've not tried it but I also heard the borage oil is a very good source of GLA. It's supposed to help with PMS and it also acts as an anti-inflammatory. I think this helps endo folks because the endo in our bodies flares up, often causing pain. There are so many things one can try... I just thank God Lori turned me on to her ND. Lori pointed this out in other posts, but one thing I really like about our ND is that she seems to treat us individually even though we both have endo (though Lori has a host of other things too), there are only a few supplements we have in common (and if I'm correct, I think many of those we do share in common are different brands!).
