Sigh...

I don't know what to think. I started the BC pills when my dr told me to - the day I started. My periods have always lasted 4-5 days, even when I was on other birth control.
Well, today is day #11. Granted, its now just spotting, but its a little frightening - reminding me of a few years ago when I had to have a D&C to stop a 6 week period. I was checked for fibriods then and had nothing. I have one now accoring to the ultrasound I had about a month ago, but I am sure its the pills.
I'm supposed to go back to the dr mid next month, and would hate to freak over this and make an earlier appiontment. The horrible part is over - the pain is down to intermittent and nothing I can't deal with.
He said he had to use the BC before the surgery just to ensure that my insurance would pay for it. He put me on Seasonale.
Anyone been through anything similar?
Melanie

Re: Sigh...

Hi Pam,

I'm sorry to hear of the unpleasantness you're experiencing. I haven't been on the pill for years and when I was, never experienced anything like that. Perhaps it's just your body getting used to being on the pill and maybe it will be better next month? Will you be taking the pill continously or will you take a week off to have your period?

I hope things get better for you soon.

Re: Sigh...

Thanks Melanie,

Yes, Seasonale comes packaged to where you take it continuously, only havng a period every three months. Since I seemed to only have about 5 comfortable days a month mid-cycle, the concept was great. But if I am going to bleed continuously, I may have to re-think this one....

Re: Sigh...

Hi Pam,
The last time I used birth control pills for the endo was 20 years ago, I had no problems taking them at the time, but now as I am older, I think that it would be a different story.

I do not mean to give advice, but support but I do have to say to listen to your body over listening to your Drs. Maybe that sounds bad, I do not know but it sure seems with endo we all have differnet reactions and one certain pill does not effect everyone the same way. I wish it were easier with treatment decisions.

If ever you would like to read a wonderful book on hormones, I recommend "what your Dr. may not tell you about premenopause" Dr. Lee MD

Prayers are with you,
Lori
