Progesterone Cream and Sleeping
So this morning whenI woke up, and realized I slept 9 hours, I was thinking about it. And see I have been sleeping quite well for the last week. So I think the cream might actually be helping me get more sleep. This is 100% for sure, but I think it might be. But also the week and a half I wasn't using it (Period was 4 days late) I was sleeping horribly, cause I looked at my notebook I keep track of how much I sleep, what I eat, what I take. The progesterone doesn't seem to be helping anything else though yet. I got to get some new kind soon, and will probably order online this time. But my questions is, if it is helping me sleep, what do I do when I'm off it for my period? Cause getting 4 hours a night really messing me up big time! (That was one very, very bad week!) Just thought I get ya'll thoughts on this! Thanks! |

Hi Rachel. I'm so glad to hear you're sleeping better on the cream. I have the same issue. When I first started the cream I was sleeping a lot! I didn't sleep as much while on my period, but still better than I had before (I have a 20 year history of insomnia and was only sleeping about 2-3 hours a night). I did need to tweak my dosage though as I was too sleepy during the day. These days I'm getting a solid 6 hours of sleep and have no fatigue whatsoever. It seems the 6 hours is what my body needs. For the past two weeks I've been waking up in the morning between 3:30-4:30, feeling ready to go for the day. It's really wierd because I sit at my deskall day and I keep thinking, "Shouldn't I be tired? I'm usually so tired." I don't even yawn at all. I do sleep longer on the weekends so perhaps that's what help me get through the week. It's like my body's on some kind of schedule. Hope you're well! Melanie |

Hi Rachel & Melanie, Rachel, Their are some natural sleep remedies: Chamomille tea, valerian root, passion flower. These are all calming herbs. Also calcium/magnesium before bed helps quite a bit, but can also help other things at the same time... I hope the cream starts kicking in soon to help with pain also. Lori

Well it's hard for me to get my parents to buy me anything, especially herbs! My Dad is still convinced that doctors can help me and I should get my bcp! Blah!!! Even though I keep on telling them this is my freakin' body I gotta live with the rest of my life and I don't wanna put that crap in my body! Yeah I've decided to not use the cream in the morning and just evening cause I think it's making my fatigue worse. And just using it and night makes it sooo hard to get up in the morning! Luckily I never have to worry about getting up and going anywhere in the moring! But hopefully the new brand I get (not sure which one yet) won't make me as tired! |

Hi Rachel, Can you check the label on the brand you are using and see how much progeterone per dosage? just wondering how it compares to the other brands and what everyone else is doing. I use 40 mg. per day. 20 mg. night, 20 morning. Thanks, Lori |

It says 20 mg a dispense, but I don't use a whole dispense everytime cause a lot comes out when you do, so I really not sure how much I'm using. But hopefully when I get some new stuff it will be easier to calculate and I'll know how much I'm actually using. |

Ok well I think I figured it out! Last night I pushed out a full dispense since I didn't use any in the morning. It gets out about 1/2 a teaspoon. And so I was using 1/4 a teaspoon in the morning and evening. Meaning I was getting 20 mg a day. I was planning on trying 40 mg a day at first, but oh well gues I didn't. Plus I'm small so maybe it is the best I don't use that much anyways! So there's the answer to your question! Oh and now I'm going to use 1/2 in the evening instead of using any in the morning, so I'll be getting 20 mg in the evening. |

Well I was thinking that might be the common link -because Jill Mary, Melanie & you are very small and all of you seem to need to regulate the doses to less or at night mainly. I am big and it does not make me sleepy at 40mg. a day. I have tested it to see if that was a contributor. No effects. I did read somewhere that the more fat content that you have the more you may need to get it absorbed. Not sure if this is a link though or not or possibly it could be how much excess estrogen we have? I hope you can figure it out. I also read that it could take 3-6 months to start working. I had strong effects of pain relief within 1 month, so it is so true how all of this effects everyone differently. How long have you been consistently using it? Lori |

I've been using the cream about a month and a half now. So not very long. The hard thing for me is that I have the IC too, and I actually think my IC is worth than my endo. I think endo causes the very bad cramps, and probably is what causes the nausea, fatigue, and feeling quite icky. But the IC I think causes a lot of the bad pelvic and back pains, plus of course the fun frequent urination! So not going to be the easiest to tell if the cream is helping with having the IC too. I think I'm going to use the Progestacare cream that you used, I found a good price for it online too. Do you think I should just use 20 mg in the evening then? |

I think that is what Jill Mary does, uses it at night only. I thought Melanie said she used it mainly at night with a smaller dose in the morning? Don't forget about Dr. Lam ok-he could probably help also.. He is so cool! He calls me every 3 weeks to check up on me and he does not charge me! What a wonderful man huh. God Bless you if you are reading this Dr. Lam. Lori

I did email Dr. Lam like probably a month ago, and never got a reply back :( Want to ask him for me if he got my email? Maybe it just didn't go through, and sadly I didnlt save it so I'll have to re-write. Well I do still have the document of my medical history saved, just not what I wrote in the email, have to re-write that if he didn't get my email before! |

Hi ladies, Sorry I've been so absent for so long, lots of family things going on... As Lori mentioned, I'm on the smaller side too, weighing in about 100 lbs. It seems I take more than all of you! I take 20 mg am and about 40 mg pm so 60 mg total. This down from 80 mg per day (40 am/40 pm) because it made me too sleepy. Hope all of you are well--I've missed you! Melanie |
