vitex - does it help?
my daughter, 20 yrs old is suffering daily, back and pelvic pain. Doing an herbal liver cleanse from health food store and using cramp bark, evening primrose oil and progesterone troches on top of the birth control pill seasonal. Question is should she add vitex? if so, capsule or liquid extract, does it matter? |

I just got off of this recently. I tried it for 3 months and it didn't help me one bit! But of course everyone is different. But the lady at the health food store said not to take with birth control pills. And also the other herbs she is using, not sure if it is wise for her to be on those while being on birth control too. But I don't know, I'm no doctor. Lori, knows a lot about herbs, maybe she can give her two cents on that! ~Rachel |

Hi, You know I do not think it is a good idea, mixing chastree with BCP or any other hormones in case you decide on the natural progesterone cream. The BCP is synthetic and the other things are natural. In my opinion they would be counteracting against each other. Can you see a naturopathic Dr. to put a program together for her? Both my naturopath Dr. have given chastree(vitex) to me. It helps to balance the hormones and produce more progesterone. I definately had way too much estrogen, so I am sure along with everything else it is helping. Melanie and I share the same Dr. but she did not give it to her. I assume that maybe her hormones were not as messed up as mine. I had major PMS 8 days before my period, hormonal surges..so maybe that is why I needed the additional. not sure. I do not think it makes a difference, the liquid or pill form but the brand I think is very important. I use vitanica. vitanica.com i think I am sure their are other good brands, just do not know about them. Keep us posted on her progess ok. Lori |

Hi Ruth. Welcome! I just want to ditto what Jill Mary said. On the old posts she mentions I posted what I do for relief. I only want ot second it since Lori mentioned that even though we see the same doctor, we share just a few things in common to help treat endo. It seems as though my NDs approach was to start me off on a few things and see how I do with that. The progesterone cream, dietary changes, liver cleanse helped me tremendously. I was still have some lingering PMS issues and added the fish oil. That put me in a place where I experience absolutely no pain. In fact, the only clue I get for starting my period is breast tenderness and food cravings. As I result, I've not needed the extra things Lori takes for endo. I just think it's so amazing the way you're helping your daughter. She is incredibly lucky to have you in her corner. Melanie |

thanks for all the input. will try to encourage her to go to a naturopath to direct her program. She is afraid to hope at this time. The liquid calcium magnesium citrate, what brand is that. Do you mix with water or is it already mixed?(I need a smiley face with a questioning look) It should be safe with her other things. I understand about not adding vitex with the other things she is on. |

Ruth, much luck to your daughter. I hope she gets relief and answers soon. It is so sweet of you to take a such an interest in her illness and trying to help her find relief. My mom has been there for me more than anyone and I don't know how I could have gotten passed so many bad nights without her. I wish you both all the luck in the world and may God bless you on your journey. Margaret
