New to this site

Hello,
boy, I wish that I had stumbled on this sort of website a long time ago. I chose to take Lupron because I was in too much pain and simply listened to my gyno's advise.....I am not saying that I entirely regret it, but I wish I had made a more informed choice ~ that's all. Since my last visit to my gyno and his advice to have a complete hysterectomy at the young age of 35 , I have decided to go the natural route. There's just SOOOO much information out there, it's hard to weed through everything. I have cut dairy & wheat out of my diet. I take evening primose every day (3x's) a multi-vitamin, calcium/magnesium suppliment & cleaver's combo.....is there anything else you could advise this beginner?
Thank you so much!

Re: New to this site

Hi Lisa
Welcome here

I was thinking about fish oil also, since most of us are using it. Melanie and I go to the same naturopathic Dr. The things we take that are in common are: fish oil, natural progesterone cream, we do the endo diet also.

I do think it is helpful to get advice from the experts on this as they treat the entire body, but Jill has always done it herself succesfully and Rachel is just starting out.

I guess then my anwer would be to try the fish oil also, and perhaps if the herbal supplement does not work, maybe think about natural progesterone cream.

Their is also a natural Dr. who has given me some free advice, his link & article is on the natural page if. www.lammd.com

Well I hope it all works wonderully for you! Feel free to keep us posted on your results. Welcome again!

Re: New to this site

Hi Lisa ,

I am sorry you are going through all that you are and I truly hope you get the help you need, for pain free days, very soon. Well, I will let Lori give you some suggestions because she is awesome when it comes to giving natural/spiritual healing advice/suggestions .

However, I did want to welcome you to this site. It is an amazing site and it has helped me personally, in many ways. All of the endo sisters here are so kind, special and unique , we are so much alike and yet so very different. But, no matter what, we all have a deep concern for one another and a strong bond.

Anyways, I am glad you are joining us here and I look forward to speaking to you and/ hearing from you again very soon. Take care and may God bless and be with you on your new journey to good health.

Margaret

Re: New to this site

Hey Lisa!
I just wanted to welcome you to this site! I have loved being on this site, and the gals here are so great! I'm slowly still trying to find something to help me in the natural route. Right now I am trying progesterone cream and fish oil. I haven't used them long enough yet to tell if they are working, but a lot of women have had great success with them! I did try the diet, but didn't seem to be helping me, and I can't do it right now because of another diet I am on for another disease I have, and was losing too much weight on both, but several women have had good success with that. And what Lori suggested, going to a professional naturopathic is probably a good idea if you want to go the natural way. Good luck! I hope you can find something to help you!

Re: New to this site

Thank you ladies, for such a warm welcome to this site! Thank you also for the tip on the fish oil and the link to Dr. Lam's website. I was surprised to see that we should be limiting our intake of broccoli and cabbage, I always thought these were good for endo suffers....I have so much to learn! I plan on picking up some of the fish oil & I'll check into the progesterone cream. I am in Canada, so I am not 100% sure if it's available in a health food store.
Thanks again! What a great feeling to know there are soooo many options instead of just putting my health in the hands of my gyno!!
Have a great day

Re: New to this site

Hi Lisa,

Are you sure that you read that we are supposed to limit those veggies? My Dr. has me eat them everyday.
I try to eat a lot of cauliflower, brocolli and cabbage. She told me all the vegetables from the cabbage family are the best. They are estrogen clearing. Here is a copy from Dr. Lam. Let me know though if you read it somewhere else though differently. You never know, I may have accidently put some wrong info somewhere or a link perhaps disagreed?

Fortunately, scientists have identified cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, bok choy, and Brussels sprouts to contain a high level of phytoestrogen. These important vegetables work by competitively occupying the estrogen receptor sites on the cell membrane to prevent estrogen from exerting its effects on the cell. About 3-5 servings a week is needed.

talk later,
Lori

Re: New to this site

Lisa - you will need to get your doc to prescribe natural progesterone cream, as its not available in health food stores. I'm in Canada too. The stuff in the health good stores is not "natural progesterone", its yam cream. Note, that not all pharmacists can make up the natural progesterone cream, so you or your doctor may need to call around to find one that knows how to make it up for you. Good luck.

Re: New to this site

it's me again.
Perhaps in my haste, I read Dr. Lam's website incorrectly. I certainly hope so, as I just made a huge batch of my favourite cabbage soup for my work lunches! I have visited his website again quickly this morning and sent an email for more information. Thank you for the info on progesterone cream as well. It's great to see so many ladies with such a positive outlook, it's rather infectious!
Bye for now!
