OK here's the news
I have been withholding this info on the forum for 4 months but I want to share with you that I am 20 weeks pregnant. This is a miracle because I have had extensive endo in the past. We had to go through IVF again but this time I took NO meds and asked for a straight transfer only. Last time I took the IVF meds and miscarried at 11 weeks. Things have been going well but i still have endo pain at times even through the pregnancy and some bouts of anxiety. I am concerned about estreogen problems and managing them for another 5 months. Please pray for me and for the health and well being of our child. Pray the baby would be protected from all effects of estrogen problems. Pray that God would give me wisdom and diligence to eat the things I should in pregnancy. Thank you in advance for your prayers and thoughts. Love, Heaven |

Thankyou all for your prayers. The bouts of anxiety are getting better as well as the endo pain. Unfortunately this has moved to pain in the breasts and headaches accompanied by many bad dreams at night. I had to lower my prolactin levels (herbally with L-tyrosine) before getting pregnant and now I wonder if the breast pain signals that prolacin has crept up again. I don't think there is anything they can do in a preg - in fact they won't even check the hormones. Can high prolactin explain these headaches too? Guess I should stop eating cheeze every once in awhile because this ups prolactin... Wondering, Heaven |

Heaven, Your prolactin goes up naturally when you are pregnant . . . that is what causes you to produce breast milk . . . so yeah, it is probably causing the breast tenderness, but that should get better in a few weeks. Higher prolactin can cause headaches, and also pregnancy causes some sinus pressure and things that can cause headaches as well . . . plus some people just get headaches early in their pregnancy. I was advised that Tylenol is safe to take, but I'm allergic . . .and most docs won't let you take asprin so I had to try saline and things for my nose to try and help my headaches. A Netti Pot would probably be very helpful, especially if you have a lot of sinus issues. I don't know if this has helped or if I've just told you things you already know. I pray that the Lord will keep you and your baby safe and healthy. Amber

Oh yeah, I also have read that many women have nightmares early in their pregnancy . . . I can't say I remember anything specific. (I also could mention that I did have my prolactin tested throughout my pregnancies (sp?) - it was be cause I have a prolactin secreting tumor on my pituitary gland, and there was concern that it would grow during pregnancy . . . but since it is expected to be high I can see why they wouldn't feel a need to test it in everyone - but there are set parameters that is expected to stay in during pregnancy just the same.) Heaven, Congrats on your blessing!!! It's wonderful isn't it? I know this may not make sense to you but I do it when I have nightmares and it really works....Place your bible open to Pslms 91 under your pillow. My grandmother used to do that for us when were kids if we had bad dreams and it always worked. Just thought I would share that... Blessings to you and your baby, Marie

Thankyou Amber! I did not know about preg and headaches or that others experience some nightmares. I try to keep my sugars balanced thru the night by getting up to eat and sometimes this can head off a bad dream. Any thoughts on how to lower prolactin in preg? Marie, Tahnks for sharing. Recently I have bgan to pray a shield around me at night before sleeping plus bring praise music into my room. I spent time praising the LORD in my bed. I am not disallowing this to be a spiritual attack as I have been exposing areas where Satan has been at work in my extended family. I have suffered similar attacks in the past due to spiritual battles. I will claim scipture too. Please keep praying for me. Heaven |

Since prolactin goes up for the milk production, I'm not sure it would even be possible to lower it during pregnancy . . . or that it would even be a good idea to try since you need the breast milk. Maybe someone else will know more about it. |

Yes I agree probably not safe to try and lower it. I read on one post that lowering prolactin raises estrogen and I can't have that right now. I just cut back on dairy and supplement with calcium. Netti - so glad you asked! Yes I plan to breast feed if possible and would apprecite any input/books to read... Thank you Thank you. Heaven |

Dear Heaven, Any books on breast feeding should be good. I'll give you a couple of good websites. I had three great books from barns and Nobel What To Expect The First Year.A must have. Nursing mothers companion. And, I forgot the third one, I gave it away. I'll find out. I'll try to find my info soon on what to expect, but until then. May the Lord prepare you for a bitter sweet challenge. http://www.kellymom.com/index.html http://www.llli.org// Love, Jannette P.s. The good thing about it is that you bond in a special way. Your baby is less sick because of good vitamins. and your period dosnt come back right away. I'll be back to share more about it. I have to. |

Ok Heaven, I lost my advice on breast feeding. But I will try to do my best in remembering what I wrote, and my own personal experience. You will need a heating pad. I think most of us have one around. This is for engourgement. You will also need an electric breast pump, one with batteries is good. I used Even Flo. Got it from wal mart for only 40 bucks. nipple cream. breast pads, two breast feeding bras boppy your favorite water bottle always filled with water and much prayer and tissues for those nights where you are crying and want to give up. First of all, it hurts really bad. You and baby are both learning something new. It dosnt come natural for the first couple of weeks or so. For me, I was in pain for one month. You really need to read as much as possible and take classes if possible before you breast feed. I gave up when I had my middle son. And he had alot of allergy problems. But I also had NO SUPPORT. So I gave up. The reason why I gave up was because my nipples where cracked and dry and bleeding. And it hurt so bad. I know that it is all because latching on the right way is crucial to the comfort. my daughter was always so stiff and onry, but i didnt give up with her and it got better. The first milk that comes in is colostrum. It is thick yellow milk. You may only produce about an ounce if even that. But the baby will get full. It is alot of work at first. Don't let the nurses give the baby an passifyers or bottles. you may want privicy for practicing. When you get home you will need lots of pillows. Your milk comes in usually by the second or third day . It feels like two huge bolders falling off your chest. This is when you bust out the electric pump and heating pad. Actually the heating pad helps sooth chapped or bleeding nipples. so if you want to have that before hand that would be good also. But it will be like this heating pad, Baby eat. I liked craddle position., whatever is left pump out., freeze, then sleep 2 hours and wake up and do it all over again. I shook, sceamed and cried. I am a whimp. But the only thing that got me through it was my friend kept telling me that motherhood was not for whimps. And I asked her why all these women say its so beautiful and she would say because they are liers. I would laugh. Of course she was just trying to comfort me, and she was kidding around. It really is a beautiful experience after the first couple or few weeks. But you have to have support and you have read knowledge of breastfeeding, and a stick with it no matter what. Everyones experience is different. Mine was bitter sweet. but its like breathing now. Its easy. I hope that this helps for now. Love, nettie P.s everyones experience is different. Maybe someone else will have a different story or a more pleasent experience. Hopefully they can give more input. |

Thanks Nettie. I printed out your advice - it's all so new to me and anything is helpful. You asked earlier if we have a name picked out. We do but want to wait for a couple of months more before sharing it. My best friend wants to throw me a baby shower and perhaps I could use your acronym at the shower? Most blessed it would be. God bless you with the very best - Himself today. Love,Heaven |
