Endo WITHOUT Pain?

Has anyone (or anyone you know) ever been diagnosed with endo without ever having any cramping, painful periods, etc? I have read that the pain isn't related to the amount of endo, and some have small amounts of endo with lots of pain - and others have tons of endo with small amounts or no pain. Can anyone verify this for me?

I have a friend who has been having terrible gastro problems for a long time . . . diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, low grade fever . . . she has been through so many tests, and the doctors she is seeing seem to be incompetent . . . Anyway, she had a colonoscopy and actually woke up from the pain in the middle of it, and her colon was so inflamed that the doc couldn't get the scope all the way through to see everything (even using a peds scope).

All of a sudden it came to me today that perhaps it could be endo that has invade her colon/bowel . . . which would be very bad news for her . . . but to my knowledge she doesn't have a lot of period problems like most people on here and others I know with endo. But she was married for years (no bc) and never concieved . . . which of course wouldnot be unusual if she has endo.

Any input on this would be appreciated, as well as your prayers for her . . . she will be seeing another doc tomorrow am . . .I'm also going to try to get her to see my gyno . . .Thank you! Amber

Re: Endo WITHOUT Pain?

Amber
I have heard of women not having any pain/symptoms and not knowing they had endo until a surgery was done for another reason and it was discovered.
I've also always heard that the intensity of pain has nothing to due with the amount/stage of endo.
It prob won't hurt your friend to get a second opinion from another doc and to talk with your gyn. Ill be praying.

Re: Endo WITHOUT Pain?

Heavenly Father,

We come before you thanking you for you goodness and kindness. We praise you for we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139. We lift up Ambers friend who is having colon problems. You know exactly what the problem is. We ask that you would reveal to the doctors if it is endo or another exsisting problem. Give the doctors compassion and wisdom. Give Ambers friend Your Peace and comfort. We lift these things to you in Jesus name.

Amen

Re: Endo WITHOUT Pain?

Amber,
There is a lady at my church who had extensive endo without any pain. They found it when she had a lap after she couldn't get pregnant.
I think your friend is on the right track seeing another doctor, and a gyn. Endo is notorious for causing bowel issues.
Have a good day,
-Sheila

Re: Endo WITHOUT Pain?

I have read that women can have no pain and tons of endo or a little endo and tons of pain. It sounds like it could be a possibility.

I had a colonoscopy and woak up from it also because the pain was so bad. I was in a "twilight" but I remember waking up several times throughout the procedure and ended up crying from the pain and they decided to stop. I know it hurt really bad, but I was really out of it too.

I think she should get some more opinions...good luck

Re: Endo WITHOUT Pain?

Well she saw a gastro specialist on Thurs and he is doing a colonoscopy and endoscopy on Tues next week - he also told her she needed to see a GYN - NOW, because all of her probs could be from endo . . . I am so glad she finally went to a different doc . . . none of the others even mentioned that female probs could be causing all of her symptoms! I think she is relieved to finally seem to be on the right track. I'll let you know here results. Please keep her in your prayers.

Thanks again for all of your input. Amber

Re: Endo WITHOUT Pain?

Well her tests came back clear, but he told her he really believed all of her probs were from endo . . . so on to the OB/GYN.

He could not feel any endo, but he said that doesn't mean it isn't there . . . so she'll be having a lap on the 26th of Feb (I think that is the right date). Please pray that if she has endo that he will be able to get it all. And if it isn't that they'll be able to figure it out.

Re: Endo WITHOUT Pain?

Hi Amber: I have had endo for over 20 years -- have had one lap and three major surgeries, and a major bowel resection with the second major surgery -- severe stage IV. Pain was never one of my main complaints. I have never fit in the traditional endo description mold. Before my bowel resection, my period was starting out my rectum and my gastro dr. could tell it was eating through my large intestine when he did a colonoscopy. My younger sister had similar issues and she just had a bowel resection and complete hysterectomy. I pray your friend gets the help she needs and finds resolution. Tell her to trust her gut. I pray God leads her to the right person to bring resolution.

Re: Endo WITHOUT Pain?

Yeah! The surgeon found the problem and fixed it . . . she had her appendix removed around the 6th grade . . . the scar tissue had attached to her bowel and it had moved up and was on top of her uterus, around one ovary and one fallopian tube . . . so basically she had all of the symptoms of endo with no endo . . . this is a great answer to prayer . . .he removed the scar tissue and got everything back where it goes, and when he did the die test on the fallopian tube it was working!!! Thanks for the input and especially the prayers. She is still recovering so please remember her, and pray her bowels and periods all return to normal.
