I am going to get my colonoscopy. Please pray thanks.

I'm going thursday to the regular doctor to see if I can get refered to get a colonoscopy and to find out what the sharp pain is in the left side of my stomach under my ribs.I have had this pain acompanied with gas for many years. I think that the colonoscopy will reveal what is going on. I also need to find out why I am having so much pressure in my heart when I excersise. It feels like someone is squeesing my heart after just five min. of excersise.I get the pressure when I lay flat on my back also. latley my head has been radiating a sharp pain & pressure on the left side that travels down my neck and throbs like a pulse. And all of my body gets numb really quick. I have shared these symptoms with many doctors for over the years including the doct. that I am going to. The doctor always gives me IB prophrin for the heart pressure. And a few months ago the doctor did a vaginal ultrasound to try to find out what the pain may be. But this time I am going to ask her to check out what I may think that it may be.

Please pray that I get a diagnosis, and that I have Gods wisdom and peace.

Thanks a bunch.

Love,
Nettie

Hi Nettie,

I am so sorry to hear about this. I will be praying for you tonight. I hope that they can figure it out. I have been there with no answer, so I can understand how you feel.

Re: I am going to get my colonoscopy. Please pray thanks.

Hi Nettie,

You should ask your doctor to "put you out" for this procedure as for women with endo it can be more painful than it is for others. I know that I had one and I was put in a "twilight state" and that I could still feel it at one point, when they were about 1/2 way through and even though I was out of it I started screaming and crying and they had to stop. I don't want to scare you I just want to make sure that you know to ask them to put you out if they're not going to. Good luck.

Dear Becky,

Do you mean that I should be put to sleep if they are going to do a colonoscopy? I'm not sure what twilite state means. Why would it hurt more for endo girls? I thought that a colonoscopy was something like getting an ultrasound. When you say that it hurts I believe you. It sounds like it would if they have to take a picture through the intestine . Thank you for sharing that info. I'll be sure to talk it over with the doc.

God Bless you,

Nettie

Hi Nettie,

I am sorry to hear about the pain that you have been going through. I have been having very similar pain to what you described in the left side of my abdomen right under my ribs. It is a sharp, almost burning, pain. I am going to see my doctor tonight about it and will remember to also keep you in prayer too. I pray that the Lord bring his healing touch, and that he lead us, and our doctors, to the right answers for our health. God Bless you!

Re: I am going to get my colonoscopy. Please pray thanks.

Nettie- my husband had to recieve treatment for a kidney stone - lipotripsy - where they try to knock it apart to aid passage. He was put into a half sleep consciousness where 30 minutes seemed like 2 minutes to him and he barely remembered. The recovery was harder than anesthtic and took many days. Ask for something easy on your system.

Hope they can give you a diagnosis my friend.

Re: I am going to get my colonoscopy. Please pray thanks.

Nettie,
Praying that you get some answers today.
I had a colonoscopy in 2004. The actual procedure was nothing, it was the day before -- the bowel prep, that I couldn't stand! I was totally out for the procedure, and whatever the anesthesia was that they used on me was a lot different than the other surgeries I'd had. I usually get sick and get the rigors really bad as I'm waking up, but this stuff was different. I wasn't sick at all, and not groggy for a day like after surgeries. In fact, I was really hungry, and ate at Cracker Barrel for supper on the way home from the hospital!
Keep us posted,
Sheila

Re: I am going to get my colonoscopy. Please pray thanks.

Hi Nettie,

I hope I didn't scare you. They called it a "twilight state" not completely out like having a surgery. They said for most people, they don't feel a thing and they're "out". Do you think you have endo in the bowels? I think I do and they explained that that is why it could be painful. Are your annual exams painful? Mine are.

I'm sure you've talked to the dr. about the actual procedure, it is not like an ultrasound! You have to do a prep the night before and drink this gross stuff and it "cleans you out" you spend the whole night on the toilet! Ask for the small amount of liquid. They gave me a gallon of this stuff to drink but my dad had the same procedure and he only drank a little thing. The gallon of medicine really sucked and I didn't get it all down it took me almost all night to try to get it down and I just couldn't do it without vomiting. Then thres the procedure. Sorry kindof graphic. They stick a tube or camera or something in your behind in follow it up your colon. All I know is that I woak up on several occassions during the procedure, it didn't really hurt but I remember waking up moaning and then them giving me more med's. That happened about 3 times and they kept giving me more med's. Then I woak up and it hurt! I started crying like a baby and they took it out and said they were going to stop. They said they only got about 1/2 through the colon and didn't seen anything. They thought it was unusual that it hurt and think it was from the endo. I don't really remember having too much pain or being really out of it after the procedure. I think by the next day I was fine. Good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions!

Becky
