Please someone help!

I am kinda new to this site. I am 23 years old and was diagnosed with endo 4 years ago. I just went in for a lap surgery on the 23rd of Jan. My doc says that I have stage 3 endo and that he removed a bunch of endo growths. He also said that I had some sort of black stuff on my tubes and ovary(what that is i have no clue)I did really good the week after my surgery. I was feeling minimal pain and discomfort. Starting about a week ago I started have some cramping nothing big and some spotting. I also started to feel really nauseated. Here in the last 4 days I have had diarrhea. The only times that this really happens is about an hour or so after I eat and can last as long as it wants. I have often thought that maybe I have IBS. Do endo and IBS really kind of run hand in hand. I am also due to have a pregnancy test on monday because I have been getting really nauseated in the morning(take that back pretty much all day) and just all around don't feel myself. I am just at a lose. I don't feel that I am pregnant but my doc is wanting to check. See that was the whole reason that I had the surgery. Was to help my husband and I get pregnant. Sorry for so long. I am just at a lose can anyone give me some advice. Thanks! GOD bless!

Re: Please someone help!

I am so sorry for all that you are going through.

The "black stuff" could have been endo - it comes in several colors. Did the doctor remove it?

There have been many women on this board who have been diagnosed with endo and IBS. You may want to look up some of the other posts.

Nausea, at least for me, was a part of the endo. Especially with the pain.

It could be that your body is trying to "regulate" itself and it might be time for your period. I know that surgery always threw my schedule off.

Have you tried a home pregnancy test? Based on what you know about where you are in your cycle, is it likely that you could be pregnant?

I think I've asked more questions than given advice. I'm not sure what advice you might be looking for at this point.

I'd look at the natural options such as diet and progesterone cream to manage your endo. You can find links for them on the home page.

And most of all, keep praying and seeking God's will in your situation.

Praying too,

Re: Please someone help!

Robin H,
Thank you for replying!!!

When I went for post op appointment the doc said that he had removed all the growths that he saw including the black stuff.

I have not yet tried a pregnancy test. I have been pregnant 5 times and some of the pregnancy I would take a home test and it would say positive. Other times I would take the test it would say negative. When they said negative I would go to the doc for an unrelated issue and a blood test would say positive. Needless to say I am nervous about taking a home test.

I have an appointment on Monday to see my doc. He is going to do a blood test to confirm if I am pregnant or not.

I can't lie and say that I am not hoping to be pregnant. It has been an uphill battle with pregnancy.

I know that I might be jumping to conclusion and getting my hopes up to high but if I am pregnant can I have diarrha because of being pregnant. I know that every woman is different when it comes to pregnancy.

Does changing your diet really help with issues related to endo?

All I know is that I am so tired of being sick and tired!!! The one thing that keeps me going is the love that I have for God and that I know that he is NOT punishing me. Like my mother always said God will not give you more than you can handle.

I am very glad that I have found this site. Finally woman who not only go through what I go through, BUT the biggest reason I love this site is because the woman here love God.

Thank You! God Bless!
Steph

Re: Please someone help!

Hello and welcome! I'm sorry you have been feeling so poorly. Yes, endo and IBS do tend to run together. I don't know much about diarrhea and pregnancy, but could it be something you are eating or like Robin said, could it be time for your period or ovulation? I know I used to often end up with diarrhea and/or severe constipation a few days before and during my period. Yes changing your diet can help dramatically. The only down side to this is that you notice when you don't stick to it. Changing my diet helped so much - I was a huge a milk drinker (4 or 5 servings of dairy a day) but cut it out and found out I was really lactose intolerant and it was one of the things making me sick. I cut out red meat and suddenly my reflux was practically non-existent and was not so constipated. I cut out caffeine and my pain levels dropped, and my bowel movements became more regular (not diarrhea or constipation - just plain "normal"). OK, those are just a few examples from my life. Oh see if you can't find a naturopath about supplementation. Those, too, will really help your body to heal itself. As soon as I can think of the titles, I'll try to give you a list of some books that talk about nutrition. This will be good for any potential babies or baby-making. Hope this helps.

God bless,
Steph

Re: Please someone help!

I agree with Steph - changing your diet can make a huge difference. If you are having problems right after you eat, I'd start a food diary and see if there are some common things that you eat repeatedly and then try eliminating them and see what happens.

Changing your diet takes time. It can take several months before you notice any diffference or as Steph said, you'll only notice when you stop the diet.

So many of us have seached for natural means to manage our endo. You'll find a lot of info on previous posts. You can also get some books at the library about diet and endo.

I can't comment about pregnancy - never have been pregnant - so I don't know if your symptoms could indicate a pregnancy.

Remember that you can always come here for advice and prayers.

Do your best to have a good weekend and let God handle the details of the test on Monday. Even getting your hopes up about being pregnant can fool your body into copying some of those symptoms.

Praying,
Robin H

Re: Please someone help!

Hello,

I know exactly what you are going through. I had my second surgery at the end of January. The black stuff that you mention is probably a chocolate cyst - which gets it name for the colour of the blood inside (chocolate).

If this is your first surgery, your are bound to feel very uncomfortable - and do remember that it can take up to six weeks just to recover from being put under! You also need to take into consideration that someone has been messing with your insides so that will also take a while to settle down.

In terms of your diet, my advice would not to be to cut out a lot of things all of a sudden. However, having a well balanced diet will help you feel better and give you more energy.

Short term, you need to rest. A good old fashioned hot water bottle on your tummy will make you feel a whole lot better, plenty of water and fruit juice to keep you hydrated . When you're feeling sick have a herbal tea that is ginger based as that should take away the sickness.

Hope you feel better soon. xx

Re: Please someone help!

By the way...I should have mentioned earlier that when I changed my diet (Lori has a pretty good synopsis of the "endo diet" on the home page) I did so a little bit at a time. There are rumors that some have been able to make drastic changes all at once, but I'm not that person. In fact I still have moments where giving up meat and caffeine has been hard (I'm a college kid who works in a steakhouse). Good luck to ya. I just had my first surgery last April and it took me a good 6 months before I actually felt better than I did before my surgery (the pain was what sent me to the doc). So basically rest well and take it as easy as you can remembering that if you feel bad, it's not you!

God bless,
Steph

What do you think of that?

Hi girls...

I was just thinking as I was reading through this post...
Isn't it MEAN that they are called Chocolate cysts? I try to stay away from chocolate and yet they keep telling me I have multiple choc cysts on my ovaries...
For someone trying to keep their diet clean, they should think up another name.
silliness.
