INTERSTITAL CYSTITS

After my first surgery for endo & adhesions in 8/06 I started having pain in the mornings when I woke up and emptied my bladder. Even before my surgery I had frequency.
As time has gone this pain has worsened. I just had another surgery 12/07 for endo & adhesions. They also did a cystoscopy and a hydrodenstion to see if I had interstital cystitis. The results came back negative for the IC. They did find a little bit of endo on top of my bladder. Also they found out my bladder is not emptying completely.
Since this last surgery my pain has skyrocketed to having to take two perocets before I can get out of bed.
I saw my urologist that did my surgery last week and he thinks that even though they didn't find IC on my bladder that he thinks I have it anyways.
He has put me on Elmorin which takes 3-6 months to help with pain. I have just began to do to the IC diet which I think is similar to the endo diet.
My question is if my surgeries could have irriated my bladder or pelivic floor. Many times IC and endo are called evil twins. From what I've read many women with Endo have IC. My question to you is do you have both IC and Endo and if so did the IC symptoms come about after your surgery? Also has anyone gone to see a pelvic floor therapist? IF you have IC what has helped you and your pain? I would greatly appreciate any feedback you could give me.
Thank you!

Re: INTERSTITAL CYSTITS

Kandi,

I had a dr. who thought I had IC too, but my only symptom was pain. I had the cystoscopy during my last surgery and the results were "inconclusive". I still have some of the same pain but it is now believed that it is nerve pain.

There is a good IC website. I can't quite remember the whole thing so I don't want to give you the wrong one. Do a search for IC network and it should come up. There was a lot of good information there and a forum too.

Hope the IC network can help you with more information. The info I have is very limited because it was a guessing game with my symptoms for more than a year, and again, all I had was pain.

Hugs,
Robin H

Re: INTERSTITAL CYSTITS

Hey Kandi
I have had similar symptoms in the past, but found it was better for awhile after my surgery. My doctor told me before that it was prob a cyst I had pressing on my bladder and my bladder doesn't empty completely. Now I have 2 more cysts growing.
Were they able to get all the endo off your bladder? Im sure having endo on your bladder is very painful.
I'm actually going to see a new dr on Thursday and I'm also considering having surgery at the CEC in the future.
I hope you will find the answers your looking for and feel better. I know it can be tiring to keep dealing with pain and other issues that you thought had been relieved. I used to dance and was in better shape and know I couldn't imagine doing that.

Re: INTERSTITAL CYSTITS

I too love to dance and it's keeping me from dancing. The pain is one thing but it's also the pain of not being about to the things you love. So I understand completely how you feel.
My symptoms seemed to get worse after my surgeries. I don't think I have a cyst since I would imagine they would have found that during the surgery.
I too wonder if they could have missed some endo on my bladder.
Thank you for your kind words. I really hope I find some answers soon.
