Question about yasmin. and numbness after lap
On Feb 6th 2008, I had a lap done and the Doctor coderized the endo. He has put me on Yasmin to slow the re-growths. I just wanted to see if any one else has used yasmin, and if so, how has it worked for you. Two day's after my surgery, I started getting this numbing sensation on the inner part of my left thigh, it's kind of close to the left ovary area. I called my Doctor right away and asked him about it,and he said as long as I'am able to urinate, that it's ok. But that didn't really give me an answer, and here it is Feb 23 2008, and the numb feeling is still there. I'am able to urinate, but through out the night when I'am sleeping, I wake up feeling like I have to go real bad, but when I go it does take me a bit to be able to, then my bladder doesn't completely empty and I end up having to go again a few minutes later. then can sometimes take at least 2- 3 attempts to urinate until my bladder is fully emptied. Have any of you expiernced anything like that after a lap? also I'am having some of the same pains that I had before the lap. the sharp stabbing pains and painful intercourse ( I'am married). Does this mean that the Doctor didn't remove all the endo? Could he have missed some? I don't want to be offensive to anyone so I will try to state this as politley as possible. Before the surgery and before I was diagnosed, at times when my husband and I would be intament, my female private areas would become swollen and irrated, much like a yeast infection, this is also still happening. Could anyone shed any light on why? |

Hi Stacy! I don't know anything about Yasmin. But I can tell you that I have symptoms like your numbness (except right leg, sometimes it hurts like the tingly feeling when it falls asleep) and urination problems. The only difference is I had them before my lap (the urination ones since I can remember and the leg thing started a few months before). Is your numbness constant? Mine kind of comes and goes with the pain in my right hip/lower back area or if I've been on my feet too long - then the numbness goes down my whole leg. I've yet to hear anything from my doc other than "It should go away soon". My lap was last April! I guess i should be thankful it is only intermittent now rather than constant. If you are still hurting during sex keep in mind it hasn't even been a month since your surgery and your insides may not be completely healed yet. It took me almost 6 months to start to feel real relief (don't know about how soon I could have sex b/c I wasn't married yet when I had my lap). However it has been almost a year for me and there are still times when I hurt but only after I orgasm...I'm ok as long as I don't. Talk about crummy, eh? Ok, not to pry but do you and your husband use condoms? If so, check whether or not they contain a spermicide or spermicidal lubricant as these are known irritants and cause little itty bitty lacerations on the vulva and vaginal walls. Also, make sure you aren't sensitive to latex if you use a latex condom. Or if you don't use condoms, but use a lube, check to make sure you aren't allergic to or sensitive to any of the ingredients. Or it may be that there is not enough lubrication (hey we all have our dry days) and there could be some dry rubbing which is painful and irritating, in which case try a lube. There are many options and it could even make things better - even if lubrication is not a problem. Many people forget to check these things, but it is very very common (I used to teach a sex ed like class for college freshman through an extracurricular I was involved in). Now after all that reading I hope this helps! And I hope it wasn't too personal! God bless, Steph By the way, let me know if you find any help/relief for the other problems cuz I sure would like to not have to pee 3 times in 15 minutes and still feel full! |

Steph, Thanks ! it wasn't too long or personal... We don't use condoms, we do use a Ky Jelly. Maybe that's the cause for the irratation. I will have to check on that. The numbness in my leg is constant. Ever since about 2 days after my lap. It has made my whole leg go numb as well when I'm sleeping. Seems I can't really lay on my left side, that's when my whole left leg and foot go numb. I think I'm going to be giving my Doc another call here real soon, the numbness and urination thing is really getting to me. Especially when I'm trying to sleep. If and when I find anything out I will be sure to post in here so you and others who may have the same issues will know what my Doc thinks. Thanks for your time, hope you have a beautiful day!! |

Have you seen your doc for your post op yet? I had trouble with urination after my last lap, and I had to go in and have them do a catheter to empty my bladder. Then had to go back the same day and again the next day for them to check and make sure I was emptying . . . After the first time they emptied it, it started to get better, and I felt a ton better. It is important to check on this, because if you don't completely empty your bladder you will be more susceptible to infections. I'm also wondering if the numbness could be because of your bladder being too full . . . it could be pressing on something causing the numbness. Just some thoughts you might consider checking into. . . |

I started yasmin about 2 months ago and it's not working for me :( i was on apri before which worked really good for my pain but was increasing my blood pressure so i had to be taken off of it. the weird thing is the past 1 1/2 months i've been having bladder problems. i'll have to go like all the sudden really bad then right after i go i'll have to go again. it's almost like i'm not emptying my bladder all the way. it's really weird and really annoying. it's not all the time but enough to be really annoying. i wonder if it's related to the yasmin...humm becky |
