Im just a scared and lonely newbie
I am 22 and found out I proably had endo on 2/14 and was prepared to have surgery sometime in late march then I had a really bad flare up and the dr decided to do surgery ASAP so last Weds I went in and had the surgery and he found stage 2 endo everywhere he said it was very rare to find stage two in someone my age and it was very agressive and very widespread. I then went back to talk to him about treatment options and he told me my best bet was montly injections that would put me into menopause and at the age of 22 that scares me. I think I am the only woman at the age of 22 look at the change of life right ahead of me. I have been so mad not at anyone just at life and extreamly sad and scared. I feel really alone can anyone help? |

Hey Shelly Welcome! There are a lot of great women here and I'm sure you will support and great suggestions. I'm sorry for the pain and situation that you are in right now. The good news is that you are not alone! One of the best things we all can do is to pray for wisdom and direction for treatment and to do lots of research for ourselves. Some meds cause more harm than good. Have you tried any natural treatments? I actually went last week to see a naturopathic dr for the 1st time. I was leary, but desperate for relief for some stomach issues and endo. Its been a week today and I feel better. Will pray for you! Melissa |

Hi Shelly and welcome to the forum. I know how scared and overwhelmed you must feel now. I felt that way when I was first diagnosed. The injections you mentioned are called Lupron. Please do your research on this forum and on the internet. There is a lot of controversy regarding Lupron. If you choose to get it, please get the monthly ones (not the one that lasts for three months). I did use Lupron and it does put you in a menopause state complete with common menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes. Most traditional doctors will encourage or even push Lupron or birth control pills. Many women on this site have been able to manage their endo through diet changes, using progesterone cream, boosting their immune systems. Some of that can be done on your own, others can be done with the help of a naturopath doctor. Remember to take this all one day at a time. Remember that you are in charge of your healthcare and it's OK to disagree with your doctor for treatment. I did that with every doctor I had. I often refused the suggested treatment. They weren't always happy with my decision, but the point is, it was MY decision. You have a lot to process now. Please visit us with your questions, concerns, frustrations, prayer requests and good news. (Did I leave anything out?) Endo can affect all areas of your life. Do you have a good support system with your family, friends, church members? As you look at that, remember that you have us. We've been through those trenches. And of course, let God direct your decisions. Go to Him for all your needs. He has big enough shoulders to carry your burdens - so let Him. With my prayers, Robin H |

hi Shelly, Welcome to the site. Am just a few days old here but can say the ladies here are wonderful. I dont have much to add to what Robin wrote, but just to encourage you and to say that you have come to the right place for moral and emotional support. welcome and stay put, God will direct you on what to do if u ask for His help.Dont be scared and dont be mad, just take it that God knows you can pull through this cos He said He cant allow situations that we cant handle to come to us.And believe me when i say worst have happened to people younger than you. Read what other women have to say about their experiences concerning different options of treatment ( am doing the same) and also try to live a healthy life. I have read testimonies of women that overcame this disease and we can too with determination and God's help. God bless. |

Welcome! I too understand how overwhelming this can be. I was only 19 when they diagnosed me with endo. I know scary and very frustrating it can be. You have come to a site where the ladies here are awesome. I will pray for you! Also, I have to agree with Robin. Please do investigate Lupron before you are put on it. Just know that you are not alone. God is always there with you! God Bless! Lauren |

Hey Shelly - I can't talk long tonight but I know how you feel. Last year about this time I my pain became so intense that I just had to see a doc. Well from about 5 diagnoses in 3 months, my gyno finally did a lap and discovered endo last April. I was 22 at the time. Same diagnosis, same recommendation. Trust me, you are not alone, nor is it really that rare these days (unfortunately). I'll have more to say later, but know all these ladies have some very good advice for ya. I'll be praying. God bless, Steph |

Endo is a scary diagnosis, but I am thankful for you that you have found this website . . . I think it would have been helpful for me when I was first diagnosed to be able to get such great advice, support, and especially prayer from all of the ladies on the site. I have to agree with others who have said to be sure and research the Lupron before you take it. The medically induced menopause is no picnic, but it can be tolerated . . . but Lupron also can cause more serious side effects, and they are starting to see that it has some long term side effects as well. I myself have taken it 2 different times for 6 months each time, and I can't say that I recommend it. If I had it to do over, I would not take it once, much less twice. (There are people who have a good experience with it, so don't just take my word for it.) My endo was not greatly improved until I had excision surgery . . . after which I was able to get pregnant. Again this isn't the answer for everyone, but for helpful website for finding docs that specialize in endo, and in endo excision you can check out the endodocs group on yahoo. I know there are many people on this site who have benefited from the endo diet and other naturpathic remedies . . . there is a ton of info on here about it all. My prayer is that God will lead you to the treatment that is best for you, and that He will give you peace and comfort as you seek to deal with your diagnosis and treatment. Amber |
