Going onto the Table

Hey Endo Sisters~ too long post, sorry for that :)
So i'm going for my 3rd lap on wednesday, in the very capable hands of my specialist, and with much prayer and talk with the Lord.
I have been reading up and wondering how to prevent any chance of infection, I may start taking enzymes/probiotics now. The problem is taking that surgery prep- pico salax that just cleans you right out. When i say "clean" i mean bulldoze, all the good and bad bacteria, fibre, nutrients, etc.
Does anyone have any advice about the following:
how to prevent a bladder infection, or a yeast infection,
how to get rid of the air they fill you up with that rises to your shoulders and pinches and aches so much (taking a flight home 2 days post-op)
any specific foods/supplements that helped you through a post-op rest time...
You get the idea. I'm not scared. I'm confident, just weary of doing this again. I pray for healing, and I leave my weariness at the foot of the Cross, where Jesus can carry my cargo and bear my burden.
I pray also for other women going through the same
thing- surgery, pain, longing for a break. The biggest comfort I feel is that HE never leaves me.
God bless you 'gals, and i'll keep you posted. Sarah D.

Re: Going onto the Table

I had my 3rd lap in December. I took the cushions that were on my couch and used them to elevate my legs. It seemed to help with the gas. I also used cough drops for my throat.

Thanks for the advice, Maur. I'll try the cushion trick!

Hello! I don't really have any profound advice for how to deal with cleanser. I know it is horrible! When I went for my lap they said that walking around (even if for just a few moments at a time) was the best way to push out all that excess air. Good luck on Wednesday!

God bless,
Steph

Re: Going onto the Table

Hello Sarah and everyone else too. I highly recommend colostrom. It helps with healing and is an immune enhancer. It is the 1st thing my new naturopath/Md dr. put me on for the candida. To prevent candida-yeast infection you mentioned, lots of vegetables instead of even natural sugars like bread etc...I am really looking into what Christy & Heaven have mentioned about the body PH thing. See the immune post. Praying all goes great!

Lord, we ask you for your healing touch upon Sarah and a speedy recovery. In Jesus name, amen.

Re: Going onto the Table

For the gas pains I have found that Gas-X really does help . . . also laying on your left side helps the gas escape (I got that little tid bit from the nurses when I had my colonoscopy, but it does help) . . . the moving around can help too . . . Also, with my second lap I had talked to the doc about how bad my pain was after the first lap (meaning gas pain in shoulders) and she said she would try to get most of the gas out during the surgery (not sure I want to know how that works exactly) - anyway, my gas pain was really a lot less for that lap so I guess it worked - maybe you can mention it to your surgeon on the way in. (I didn't talk to my new doc about it before my last lap, and boy did I wish that I had!)

I pray you have a successful surgery and quick recovery! Amber

Re: Going onto the Table

Hoorray! Lap # 3 is done with. I sure hope that's the last one. It was yesterday, and thank you everyone who lifted me up in prayer and thought of me. It went very well. I cannot read the doctor's writing (why is that always so?) the note she left me. I can read where it says she got all of the endo, though. I was surprised to see on the pictures that there was endo on my appendix and colon.
Hm....
They got most of the carbon dioxide out of me, because i did ask the doc beforehand, and i'm just sore a bit in the shoulders. Hard to breathe too. I'm taking it easy and will load up on the colostrum (thanks, Lori) when I get to my parents' house.
GOd bless you gals, keep your chins up and your hearts on fire for Jesus!
Much love,
Sarah D.

Re: Going onto the Table

I am having a complete hysterecomy in a few weeks. I have had 3 surgeries and this is the only solution to get relief. I so glad that I found this website! I appreciate the practical information and all the positive energy from everyone. It's hard for others to know the pain that this has caused, but I think I will be able to chat here about it. I am nervous about the surgery, because it is major surgery. But, my body and brain are screaming "enough already!" I will wish people good health in my prayers. Thanks for reading, caring, and understanding! It makes a huge difference.
