Eckhart & Oprah/Do all roads lead to God?

This has everything to do with you and I, our health and our walk with the Lord or lack thereof.

Heavenly Father, I ask you to open the minds and hearts of the millions who are being deceived. Lord, please reveal yourself to them. I pray for you to speak to Oprah and help her to find the truth that is in you. I ask for your mercy and grace to fall upon this forum today. In Jesus Name, amen.

Before watching the video, please think about God being described as LOVE & the scriptures below. God is Jealous in the way that He wants you to be HIS Child. Please think about the way that God is jealous for you. It is such a good thing. My husband would not want me to be with another man. He would be angry, hurt and cry for me. He wants me for Himself.

Jesus said: Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. John 15:13

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Become Gods child today!
Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Jesus love YOU. God's word says that there is ONLY ONE WAY to God:
Jesus said: I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

Please be like the Bereans:
Act 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and **examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true**.

The BIBLE: No other written religious authoirty claimed to the revealed Word of God and proved it with prophecy fulfillment. The Bible contains 1000 specific prophecies, which are being fulfilled with 100% accuracy.

Your heart can deceive you. Please instead follow the word of God:
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, Jeremiah 17:9
Psa 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Oprah's new online class covering Eckhart Tolle...

INSTEAD LEAD ME TO THE CROSS!

Illogical: All people should be able to get to heaven, no matter what spiritual road they take.

A point of LOGIC: The teachings about God from different religions cannot all be true because they contradict each other. God cannot be finite, infinite, knowable, unknowable, singular, triune, personal & impersonal all at the same time. There is no way to reconcile the various worldviews as monotheism(only ONE GOD), polytheism(multiple gods) and pantheism(God is or is in everything). Logically, either all of them are wrong or only one of them is right. All roads cannot lead to God. But one of them certainly can.

I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. John 11:25

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

Re: Eckhart & Oprah/Do all roads lead to God?

This is so alarming.

It's sad that Oprah believes that

WE need to accept all religions, EXCEPT CHRISTIANITY.

That is hypicritical in and of its self right there.

Its down right NEO-PAGANISM. And most people that I know swollow that dangerouse pill.

May The true and all eternal, just, God, give us wisdom in these last days.

Re: Eckhart & Oprah/Do all roads lead to God?

Lori, Shakes, Nettie,
I invited a lot of my unchurched friends to church on Easter, a few weeks ago. Not one of them came. One of my friends, who I invited, has been really hurt by church people in the past, and she has totally closed herself off to "church". She still claims to be a Christian, but also believes that God is whoever each person believes him to be (AKA all that new age garbage). It is becoming increasingly difficult to witness to people who just a few years ago, would have admitted to believing in Jesus, or at least would have been open to him. The church has lost a lot of its credibility.
There are several factors for that, esp. the multiculturalism and postmodernism that is prevalent, but it's also because of the Oprahs and the new age crap that sounds good to a lot of these sheep. And, let's be honest, we're all sheep. There are a lot of immature Christians, who don't read their Bibles, who just give it lip service, and don't have any real relationship with the Lord. And if you don't stay in the Word, and connected to the Body of Christ, the church, it is so easy for those to be led astray.
Some random thoughts...
I think Nettie said it, that we are living in the last days. Of course, the Bible says that no man knows, but I'm becoming increasingly aware of feeling this way myself. Why is Oprah so compelling? Why do so many people believe anything she says? She mixes in some truth with the lies, and she, herself, is deceived. She comes across as such a good and giving and sincere person. Who could question that, right? While in comparison, I flip around all the "religious" channels on the TV, and see all sorts of hucksters, crooks, women in gaudy outfits with huge hair, and they scream to the world "FAKE"! Send us your money, and you'll be healed! Just believe, and you'll be rich. Sorry, but my generation, GenX, we're a bunch of skeptics, and not buying it. Sure Oprah comes across as more believeable. It doesn't take much when you compare it to all the phoneys on their gilded sets with leopard-print chairs and purple, big hair.
My dad was just telling me about a national preaching summit he attended a few weeks ago. The main speaker, Bob Russell, told the young preachers there that he believes America is now under God's comdemnation, and that they may face jailtime for preaching the gospel in their lifetimes. Now, my family has known this preacher for years, and he does not have a habit of saying far-out things, (ie. Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell). He was the minister at the Southeast Christian Church in Lexington, KY for many years. I'm sure some have heard of it, it's a huge church. I found it to be a very sobering statement, coming from him.
Sorry, I'm starting to ramble on now, but my point is, if the church doesn't wake up and start showing LOVE (they'll know we are Christians by our love), GENEROSITY, sincerity, and truthfulness to the lost, who are they going to be more apt to follow -- us, as ambassadors for Christ, or Oprah?
Also, while I'm on my ramblings, did you all happen to see American Idol this week -- Idol Gives Back? For the finale, they had the group that is left sing "Shout to the Lord" -- only they took the name of Jesus out of the first verse, and put in "shepherd" -- which I assume made it more politically correct, but then when they sang it again on Thur night for the elimination show, they sang it again and put "Jesus" back in! I wonder if they got a lot of complaints? It was actually really good, if you are interested, I'm sure both performances are on you tube by now... But you know, it doesn't really matter, because even the stones will cry out, won't they? That's what Jesus said to the Pharisees after the triumphal entry!
Have a good weekend,
Sheila

Re: Eckhart & Oprah/Do all roads lead to God?

It is hard huh Sheila! Yes so many things are happening!

I did hear about the song. I heard it was the #1 downloaded song. Who was behind them playing that song? I wonder if someone there truly had a heart of worship, I hope someone was a Christian.

It is sad. It made me cry to watch the 1st video here.

As you know scripture tell us the reasons why people do not come to Christ. They do not have to admit they are sinners in need of a Savior. It is so easy this type of teaching-follow yourself and your own goodness(no one is good though as we know, but they will all say that they are-click on the little icon at the top of the forum if you think that you are good enough to get to heaven)

. Be in control of your own destiny and so on. Find peace within. Hey worldly peace is NO good and deceptive! Godly peace is wonderful!! I sort of remember now how I used to think before I was saved.... At church, we had an evangelism class and most every person whom we spoke to on the streets did proclaim their own goodness and said that was the way to Heaven....(if so, then Christ died in Vain!! (scripture)) Everyone also raised their hands to how they were led being saved. It was 98% HEARING THE WORD OF GOD(Faith comes by hearing & hearing by the word of God(scripture). Not watching a friends life, not other ways that we think of, but of course this can lead them there, so important as you say to show love...

Last night I happened to catch a so called preacher. I was really not surprised by the come to God and get favor type of thinking that is so prevelant today. Lots to say....

I will speak to the reader. I am thankful that the Lord has drawn you here to this website. It is not about me or any of us. It is all about Him and His will for our lives. He drew you here to help you in your suffering. He drew you here to teach you the one and only Way to God through Jesus Christ. Please do not just believe me or anyone else. Please read God's word for yourself and compare the differences. Please seek out a Bible teaching church! There are many good ones. I suggest www.calvarychapel.org as they are all over the world and have wonderful teaching. There are also many good Baptist & many-non denominational churches also. Please make sure that the Bible is #1 and not another book is or rules and ideas are from another book. Everything must be biblical.
.
Here are some more scriptures about this post. There is also a way to know a FALSE PROPHET! How critical this is! Please encourage us if you are reading. It is hard on us. So many times it is frustrating as the world gets led astray. We know that we are only to plant the seed, but sometimes we need encouragement. So, this I ask. If you are turning to the Lord through what you read, please let us know ok. Thank you!

1John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man? Proverbs 20:6

2Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

John 3:19-21 "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

Re: Eckhart & Oprah/Do all roads lead to God?

HOW TO RECOGNIZE A FALSE PROPHET!

We are to warn others (especially new believers) of false teachers. Acts 20:29-31—"I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30] Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. 31] So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears."

Tests:
Is he elevating himself above Christ? Is he seeking his own glory? Are his dreams getting more attention than Jesus?—John 7:18. Even Jesus did not seek His own glory; He said in John 7:18, "He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him."

What is the teacher's doctrine of Christ? Does it agree with the apostles' teaching that Jesus was fully human and fully divine? A thorough examination should be given.

Is Jesus recognized as having come to earth as a man?
1 John 4:1-2—"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2] This is how you can recognize the spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God..."
Those who do not believe in the complete humanity of Jesus have severely distorted the gospel—1 John 1:14. Paul teaches this in Philippians 2:5-8, and the Word classifies those who deny Christ's humanity as deceivers—2 John 7.

Is Jesus also recognized as God?
1 John 4:3,14-15 says, "...but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 14] And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15] If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God."
Jesus confirmed this (Matt. 11:27) and also made other astonishing claims in John 8:58; 10:30. Paul clearly teaches the full humanity and full divinity of Jesus in Colossians 2:9—"For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form..."

Is Jesus recognized as the Christ or Messiah?
1 John 2:22,23—"Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son. 23] No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also."
Anyone who denies that Jesus is the Christ is a liar and against Christ (see also 1 John 4:3; Mark 14:16; John 4:25,26).

What is his doctrine of the Trinity?—Gen. 1:26; Ps. 45:6-7; John 1:1; 6:23; Acts 5:3-4; I Cor. 8:4-6; Heb. 1:8.

Another way to test teaching is:
Are the major doctrines of Scripture in proper perspective? For example:
Is God seen as a God of judgment, as well as a God of steadfast love and mercy?
Jer. 23:16-17—"...Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord. 17] They keep saying to those who despise me, 'The Lord says: You will have peace.' And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts they say, 'No harm will come to you.'"
This passage makes it clear; false prophets will give you a false sense of security—false hopes. They will make up their words, their visions; and will lead people into sin by saying nothing will happen to them.

Has he added his own Scriptures and laws to the Bible?
2 Peter 2:3-"In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping."
Any teachings added to the Word are simply stories that have been made up. It is a ploy of false teachers to manipulate with stories. Read carefully 2 Pet. 1:16-21 to see how the Scripture came to us, then contrast that to what false prophets/teachers will do—2 Pet. 2:1-3.

Does his teaching ultimately focus on the acquiring of material wealth, e.g., godliness is a means to getting rich? The false teacher designs his teaching to exploit his audience. The teaching emits from a heart of greed—2 Pet. 2:3a; 1 Tim. 6:3-10.

The Confessional Test
Watch your/their allegiance.
Is Jesus Christ recognized as Lord? 1 Cor. 12:3—"Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, 'Jesus be cursed,' and no one can say, 'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit." If God's Spirit is resident in a person, he will also be able to acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Lord of his life. Even demons have an intellectual belief in God and shudder at His power (see James 2:19). But they can't declare and evidence the fact that Jesus is Lord, except by the Spirit.

Is God's grace prompting a more godly lifestyle? If God's grace, i.e., His unmerited favor, is used as an excuse to continue to walk in sin, it is a misuse of God's grace and a denial of Jesus as Lord and Master.
Jude 4—"For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord." (See also Rom. 6:1-2,11-14.)
Obviously, no one is perfect at all times (Rom. 3:23), but anyone who consistently violates and ignores God's commandments does not know God—1 John 2:3-6; 3:7-10. Those who are influenced by this deception will do the same. They may not deny Jesus as Lord verbally, but by their actions choose to change God's grace into a license to commit immorality. Therefore, anyone involved in immorality as a believer is resisting the lordship of Christ and must repent—Eph. 5:3-7; 1 Thess. 4:3-8.

Is he in submission to the Word and to the leadership of the local church? Heb. 13:7—"Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith." (See also Heb. 13:17.) A sure sign of a person being influenced by the enemy, or of one caught in the enemy's trap, is that he is constantly disagreeing with or challenging spiritual leaders. He/she won't listen to anyone.

There is a lot more! Read the link please. I could not put the entire article here.

The Church's Response to the Tests
When we see a false prophet or teacher, and they have failed the preceding tests, what are we to do?

We are to first judge ourselves, to see if we have any beams in our eyes—Matt. 7:1-5; 2 Cor. 13:5-6.
We are then to judge actions and beliefs—Gal. 6:1-5.
We are to seek to restore, or bring the person to Christ with gentle but straight instruction—Gal. 6:1; 2 Tim. 2:23-26; James 5:19-20; Jude 22-23.
We are to do the following with those who repeatedly reject the truth and continue to proclaim false doctrines and teachings, or those who continue to love an ungodly lifestyle:
We are to avoid them. Rom. 16:17-18—"I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18] For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people."
We are not to listen. Heb. 13:9—"Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them." (See also 2 Tim. 2:14.)

On the positive side, we are to keep doing the following:
We are to stand in the truth, hold on to the good—1 Thess. 5:21.
We are to build ourselves up in the faith and pray—Jude 20-21; Eph. 6:18-20.
We are to stand strong in God's strength—1 John 4:4; Eph. 6:10-17.

Re: Eckhart & Oprah/Do all roads lead to God?

Dear Bookshee,

I am also a gen-exer (How Sad that our Generation got just an x to fill in the blank). Obviously we were never immportant to the world. But that is why God brought us into His family.

What you shared was very well put, Thought provoking, and inspiring.

Alot of my family members are into different things such as the Secret, wicca(aka witch craft),Oprah, buddism, Johovas witness (which I used to believe in), Mormonism, and the most recent, most subttle, most deceptive, EMERGING CHURCH. This is where the world and the church emerge. And you dont even notice it.
But in short, I always have to be ready.

We are to be ready in season and out.
I have loads of good scripture but my hubby just got home so I gotta make it quick.
We are to be ready to give an answer of the hope that is within us.

Blessings,
Nettie
