period pain when not on period
have any of you experienced excruitiating cramps when you werent on your period? THis happened to me about 2 months ago when my period came early and then about 2 weeks later I had that familiar pain (that I ususally have with my period). It was ovulation though because I know what that feels like and it was a very different type of pain. When I had this I also had really bad burning in my abdomen and it felt like things were "stretching" in my abdomen when I would move . Thanks for reading my post and for all your help! God Bless! |

Hi Allisyn, Unfortunately yes, I have pain almost every day of the month and I've had that for about 6 years now. It's a smaller percentage of women that get pain all month long but it's definately a symptom of endo. I hope that you get some relief and that it doesn't turn into all month pain like i have :( I'm sure there are many others on this site with similar symptoms. Becky |

Back before my surgery I had pain like my period every day until it grew so bad I couldn't ignore it anymore (I'm bad about being in denial when it comes to my health). Now I feel it from the time of ovulation until my period, but the intensity of the pain varies from day to day, cycle to cycle. I'm not really sure there is much to be done other than what I do for the pain during my period. I hope this lets you know you aren't alone, even if it isn't much in the way of a solution. God bless, Steph |

thanks for your replies... it is good to know that you are not alone in your endo journey and that people do care, even if you dont know them |

I have pain that I originally thought was related to my period. After visits to many doctors, they finally concluded that the pain is related to my colon. Apparently, there are a significant number of endo patients that also have GI problems. And some also have IC (Interstitial Cystitis) - which has something to do with your bladder. I guess what I'm trying to say is that pelvic pain is hard to diagnose...even for the doctors. So maybe your "period pain" is actually your bowel or bladder. Maybe it would be worth checking with GI specialists or Urologist? Just a thought... Hope that you feel better SOON :) Praying for you, Emily |

well, my gyn actaully informed me that I have a retroverted uterus, which she said could be causing the horrible rectal pain that I have and some of the really bad bowel problems during my period... have you ever heard of someone saying this before? thanks for your prayers girls! i am praying for all of you too! |

many women with endo have a retroverted uterus. i have one and all the doctors i've seen have acted like it was no big deal. so i've never heard that it could cause pain. they've all said it's no big deal and not to worry about it. but i wonder... becky |

I have one (retroverted utero), too! My doc agreed with Becky though, that it is common and not really a big deal, but "good" for him to know before (if!) I get pregnant. He didn't tell me why... God bless, Steph |

I just remembered that a nurse practicioner once told me that a retroverted uterus can cause back labor and she said it was probably why i get menstural cramps in my back. |

I have back pain too due to my menses (can happen before and/or during menses). Also,I can have pain before and/or during menses. (I have endometriosis which helps explain this pain). I also have problems when some days I just cannot sit down as I have major discomfort in my back. Can only lie down to feel better. However, the retroverted uterus is something new to me. The doctor did not mention about it when I went for my surgery. Jeri |
