Cooking with coconut oil-help
Have not posted here for a while. Hope everyone is doing fine. Can anyone help me with this? I am currently trying to cook with coconut oil. However, I noticed that the oil will bubble a lot (like foam) when I cook fish using coconut oil. I do not put too much oil in the pan as I do not want to waste too much of the oil. (not doing deep frying here. Just normal frying). Thanks Jeri |

To explain further. The coconut oil will look like white foam when cooking. Of course, when it cools off, the oil will be back to normal again. Is it safe or have I heated it up too high? Or is it because of the water from the fish? Thanks Jeri |

HI Jeri, Thats weird that it is foaming up. My boyfriend and I make homemade soap and one of the ingredients is Coconut Oil. We don't fry it, we put it in a large pot with two other types of oil and heat it up. But I've never seen it foam up before. Maybe it's on too hot? I don't know, have you checked on-line? Is it supposed to help with endo pain? good luck Becky |

Coconut oil shouldn't be cooked higher than medium heat. I think it's sort of like peanut oil in that way and loses it's nutritional value when it's cooked too high...so try turning the temp down, it should make the foaming stop =) |

Thanks. I will try again. My suspicion is that its due to 2 factors ie too high heat and maybe due to the water content of the food that I'm cooking. Jeri |
