chronic urticaria?

Has anyone hear of chronic urticaria?

I'm still trying to figure out where my rash came from . . .anyway I found this disorder/disease - whatever you want to call it.

Anyway - doing some research on it and it seems if your mom has endo or you have endo it puts you at risk for chronic urticaria.

If anyone knows anything about it I'd appreciate some help. Thanks!

Hello Amber, Hope you are doing better now! I do not know anything about this, but am pulling your message to the top in hopes that others will know.
God Bless you!

Re: chronic urticaria?

Thanks Lori!

I guess my mystery has been solved . . .

I've taken no ibuprofen for 6 weeks now and my rash went away (after about 2 weeks with no ibuprofen) and it hasn't come back.

I did a drug challenge at the allergists to see if I could tolerate tylenol (I had rashes with it when I was a kid) and I didn't react so now I can take tylenol for pain . . . I am somewhat disappointed that it doesn't seem to help pain quite like ibuprofen . . .but hey - no rash is such a blessing that I can deal with it.

I guess from the urticaria research and what my doc says . . . developing a sensitivity to ibuprofen/asprin is not unusual at all. I just can't believe how long I took the stuff giving myself rashes and never knew that was what it was. (I first had the rash over 10 years ago and was given the advice to try not eating beef because of my penicillin allergy . . . and it seemed to make the rash go away . . . but I did get it off and on for the whole 10 years . . . but more recently it was worse . . . of course, more recently I've been taking more ibuprofen plus some other NSAID's for other pain besides the endo pain) I guess it was always rather timely that the rash would go away when I stopped eating beef . . . but mostly for years I only took the ibuprofen for my menstrual pain and the occasional headache . . .

Anyway . . .maybe my crazy medical probs will help someone else with similar probs . . .

Anyone else with other info - I would love to hear it.

Thanks again Lori! Amber
