Buffy Sainte-Marie: A Multimedia Life

Production on a one-hour documentary of Buffy Sainte-Marie's career is nearing completion. Its expected release date is this summer and will be broadcast by Bravo!, Aboriginal People's Television Network, Saskatchewan Communications Network and British Columbia's The Knowledge Network.

Produced by CineFocus Canada, "...viewers will witness Buffy's transformation from a baby born in rural Saskatchewan and adopted into a working class American family, into an international celebrity who has spent her life making connections between mainstream and aboriginal cultures, music disciplines, political ideologies, and emerging technologies."

Segments are expected to include appearances at the 2005 JUNO Awards and The Canadian Songwriter's Hall of Fame, a tour of Buffy's digital art at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, a visit to her family reserve in Saskatchewan, a demonstration of her Cradleboard Teaching Project in Manitoba and concert performances in Edmonton, Regina and with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. A segment from Buffy's home in Hawaii will be filmed in March, 2006.

Joni Mitchell, Eric Anderson, Bill Cosby, Charlie Hill, Randy Bachman and John Kay will be featured in the documentary.
