"We found a valley" the 1954 film of building the refinery has been found!

FINALLY!! Asked the Perth, Western Australia, Government Relations Director if he could help me find a copy of "We found a Valley" since we had had no success with BP London over several years. 24 hours later:

Hi John good news, we have the film and it is available online.

www.bpvideolibrary.com

In the search box, enter the title of the film or its asset number – which is 186.

You can also conduct other searches for Abadan and Aden etc. We have some great historical film from around the world in the collection.

I hope this helps,

Magic! Now to find time to watch it.

Cheers,

John

Great news John. The last time I saw that film was on a trip to Aden. The refinery shows the video with Arabic subtitles to it's visitors.

Best wishes

Thanks for finding the link to this John. My parents & I were living in N5 at the time of filming (Mum taught me for a year). I remember a car being provided so that I could go along to the school to get some of the other kids from there to play outside the bungalow. It appears at about 25 minutes in. Sad to say that both my parents have passed away - my mother in 2004 and Dad in Dec 2017 at the age of 99.

Re: "We found a valley" the 1954 film of building the refinery has been found!

My son who lives in Sydney, Australia, sent this video link to me yesterday along with a photo of my father and John Waring, with two white cotton coffin-shaped people behind, presumably their wives! My parents were Jack (Stocky) and Joan Stockdale and three children; Carolyn, Patricia and Lesley.
Also was enclosed an email from Nancy Smith to Jane Waller and she mentioned several names including mine. I was at Chatelard school with Moira Trantor and knew Rosalind Wood and Adrian Bomford, the latter went to school with my younger sister, Patricia, in Little Aden. Our family lived next door to Leslie and Joan Shute, and their children Penny and John. We remained in contact with Frank and Jean Fowler and their son, Derek.

My parents were friends of your parents if same jack stockdale. I have photos of my dad & your dad in Jordan, he lived next door but one in houses for refinery at Zarka/Zerka. We went there in 1962 when dad sent there (to Jordan) i was 5 then & went to international community school in Amman by jeep each day. If right family your parents bought home in kent & we lived in Tenterden & visited for lunch with you & your mum Joan. We still remember your mum gave us ice cream with also double cream in top which was great!! Mum said your home had really beautiful carpet. Well hope you ok.
