All of Aden is almost liberated. its matter of hours to be all Huthi's-free city. In God's willing, soon all of Yemen is liberated, too.

I am certain that I am not alone when I say that I am saddened and sickened by what has happened and is still happening in Aden.

Unlike most on this site, I was not the child of a BP employee. Instead, I was sent by my government to attempt to provide a modicum of security to the British residents there. In that short time I (a little more than a year) I was affected by the beauty of the country (if you didn't venture beyond Khormaksar then you may not know what I mean), the dignity of the people and its fascinating history.

The country has been torn apart.
More than 4,000 civilians dead or having suffered life changing injuries.
People are either starving or near starvation, because Yemen imports 90% of its food but most of the imports cannot be unloaded because the majority of the ports are not functioning. Hodeidah, the main port, is only partly working.
14 million people don't have enough food.
Pumps and treatment facilities have been damaged as a result of the war, so there is little or no clean water or sanitation. Cholera is already rife.
More than half the country's medical facilities have been damaged or destroyed.
The UN says that a child under the age of 5 dies every 10 minutes from preventable causes.
The governments of the western world appear unwilling or unable to help. On the contrary, the British Government has, and still does, send arms to Saudi Arabia, the main perpetrator of widespread and random bombing.
Aid agencies appear to be the only organisations trying bring some relief to the country, in particular UNHCR and Save the Children.
This an appeal, folks. These organisations need money in order to be able to help.
Let's dig deep.

Nothing is going to change for the people of Yemen. The Saudi's are using this as a pretext to punish Iran who according to the Saudi's are supporting the Houthi rebels. Some of the ports are open but marine transport has to run a blockade of Saudi naval vessels which is effectively barring imports of food and medicine. The British government sits back and does nothing as we are one of the largest suppliers of military hardware to Saudi Arabia and we must not do anything to offend them. This odious kingdom has supplied some of the 9/11 bombers and numerous financial support for Al Qaeeda and Isis. We need to look carefully at who represents us in government as nothing will change until we make some difficult choices as to who is elected.

I am in complete agreement with everything that you have said, Jonathan, especially with regard to the British government.
There are times when I feel ashamed to be British.

I have heard from a resident on another site that it is ok for people to visit Aden as long as they know someone. Dont understand that. And that there is no Cholera.

The internet offers multiple sources of information regarding the present epidemic of Cholera in Yemen, so I'm more than a little perplexed by your source of information.

I wrote to the MP representing the Isle of Wight ( my former residence in the UK) asking for his opinion on the situation in Yemen and does he support the supply of arms to the Saudi government which have been used to murder innocent civilians and decimate the country's infrastructure. And is he in agreement with the Saudi's blockading supplies coming into the country. Strangely I have never received a reply. Probably because the fellow is a new MP and is trying to do everything he can to fit in with his party's (Conservative) policies. I have just sent him another email demanding his reply and reminding him he was voted in to serve the people and not his own causes. The local Conservative association replaced one condescending w a n k e r with another!
What a loathsome career politics is!

Sometimes there is only one word or phrase that can describe a person or a situation.
In the instance that you have outlined, the word you used appears to be totally appropriate.
I experienced a similar censorship issue when I innocently used the name of the small fishing village that lies just north of Bureika in a post on this site.
With regards to politicians, head and brick wall come to mind.
