Re: After the ball - Frances Black - Chords

D.,

I found a version of "After The Ball" at the link below. There are a few
difficult chords for a beginner in there, but you should be able to busk a
version, leaving out the trickier ones. ( When you do this you should always
seek out the dodgy chord later and try to learn it, so that you can play the
song as it should be played, when you get up to speed ).

My 'Busking' version:
G C G D7
After the ball is o - ver,

G D7
After the break of day,

Am Fdim Am
After the dancers' leav - ing,

D7 G D7
After the stars are gone,

G C G Many a heart is ach - ing;

E7 A7
If you could read them all,

D7 Fdim G E7
Many the hopes have van - ished

A7 D7 GAfter the Ball EADGBeG = 320003C = 032010D7 =
x00212Am = 002210Fdim= xxx101E7 = 020100A7 = 002020This notation
shows the strings starting with the Bass E (thick string) and the frets to
be held down for each string
Zero indicates 'leave the string open', x indicates 'don't play this
string'

So while Fdim ( F diminished ) sounds like a tough chord to play, you just
hold down the first fret on the 1st (thin) string with your middle finger,
and the first fret on the 3rd string with your index finger.

If it all seems daunting right now, don't worry, every one of the great
guitar players was right where you are now.

Best of luck!
