37mm Anti-Tank Gun Mounting on PT Boats

In doing research for my site, I was informed by the last living crew member on PT 108 at the time of a daylight raid on Kombangara Island, that members of the 25th Infantry Division mounted the guns on the bows of the PT Boats.

Additionally, at the time of the raid there were Army personnel on board that were to go ashore to destroy Japanesse installations.

Can anyone provide additional information on these?
