My Great Uncle Glenn A. Ranum, PFC 161st Infantry Regiment, was killed on the Island of Luzon. He was killed at the battle of San Miguel on January 27th, 1944. I am trying to put together a memorial in his honor. I was given his purple heart commendation and have been trying to establish what other citations may have been awarded the regiment/division during his time with them. He was with the division from after basic training in January 1943 to the time of his death. I was told the official records were destroyed in a fire in the 1970's. Anyone out there with information would most definately be appreciated.
