Hi Dale It sounds like the koi which I think you have has ich This is only a guess from what you discribe. Its a fungas infection The best cure is Malachite green which must be used as directed. Some koi owners believe in Potassium Permanganate. Medical treatment works best when the water is warm. 75 to 80 degrees bring the temperture to the degree slowly. You have a small tank so you must have small koi If you use the tank again clean it good I would find a new koi dealer it sounds like this one does not have healthy fish. If you got one sick fish they have more. I dont think melafix is a good treatment. Salt is ok a small amount use a salt test kit use sea salt If you buy from a good koi dealer you should have better luck. Buy your koi small your investment will be the same.
