And in addition:

Make sure your track is straight, even a small offset can create a panning-problem for the operator.

Check the straightness after each take since while pushing and stopping the dolly you'll put a force to the dolly and thus the track which might offset the straightness. Don't make an issue of the checking, just a one eye glance will tell you if its still straight or in a vertical slope
