I was down to Wolfe Island April 6 2013 found some Ancestors buried at Trinity Anglican Church Jame Eccles Sarah Ann Eccles/Spoor Alfred Eccles Catherine Eccles/Fury Does anybody know who put the monument there marking the Eccles?

My grandmother's grandmother, Catherine Geru Dion/DeYoung of Valleyfield, Brockville, Hammond NY & Alexandria Bay NY, had a brother Alexander Garu of Port Huron, St. Clair, MI. His marriage record appears on your site--- Alexander Giroux to Isabella Phair. His mother's name is recorded differently than on Catherine's death certificate; we had her as Rose Hamilton and here it is Rose Langlois. Would like to talk with anyone connected to these families. We always thought my husband was the only one with Wolfe Island connections; he is a descendant of Michael F. Sweetman and Margaret Scisco. Thanks again for all you do!

So glad this web site is here as I had little to no information on my g grandfather, Benjamin Prittie. My brick wall is his first wife Elizabeth. Her last name has been misspelled on what little info I have found of her. I have some information but would like to know more about the Winborne family, especially the late 1830's and all of the 1840's. I know of two Joseph Winborne's and who were married to two different women. Any information would be most helpful.

I'm looking for any info on Amos Martin and his family while they were on Amherst Island. I'd love to find out if the house they lived in is still standing so I could visit it. I doubt that it is, but I thought I'd mention it.

Apparently he leased (and probably purchased) land on the north shore around 1796. The first sermon on the island (according to the book "Tales of Amherst Island") was by Rev John Langhorn (didn't say which church) on Sept 15, 1793 when he buried Mrs. Deborah Ball (Susannah Ball's mother). On Sept 15 1794, he baptized the 5 children of Amos Martin and Susannah Ball.

Amos Martin was appointed Consable of Amherst Island in 1794 and was senior warden at the Bath Masonic Lodge in 1804.

Just discovered this website! It is great! Well done! There is information that I don't already have. My grandfather, Thomas Albert Prior, was born on Howe Island in 1887. I am always looking for information. Feel free to contact me.

I was a child's nanny for a family that had a vacation cottage just off the ferry from 1974 - 1980-ish. The family's name was Murray and I know the cottage (with servants' cottage and boathouse) had belonged to an elderly widow before and I believe her grown up children used the servants cottage. She had lived there a long time and all the furniture and crockery were bought with the house so much of it was classic early 1900 period stuff. House was one storey wood and split by a screened porch. It overlooked the water over to Gananoque and I remember stumbling in the early hours (after a late supper and loads of wine) through the porch to my bedroom and gazing in awe at the lights from the town reflecting in the water and the sky filled with stars - so beautiful for a girl from suburbia and leaden-skies of England. I am enjoying revisiting the island from this website.

Smythe And Hogan My Father Edward Russell Smythe lived with the Hogan familt as a domestic re 2011 census and listed a Mrs John Hogan as next of kin when he joined the military .

I have been researching my great-great grandparents, the Lemon family. In the 1851 census they were living on Amherst Island. In 1855 I believe my gg grandfather, John Lemon, was drown in the Harbor at Steamboat Landing at Mr. Tate's Ship Yard. I'm looking for any information available for the family while in Canada. They immigrated from Ireland and my widow gg grandmother and children eventually moved on into Michigan.

I had found a listing of family members in an old bible from the 19th century. One of the names was a James Gilfillan/Wolf Island. He was a brother of Joe Gilfillan/Orono, Ontario (my distant grandfather 1797-1886) & William Gilfillan/Lyndhurst, Ontario. The family were from Clayton, NY originally when it was known as French Creek. Joe Gilfillan was born in Vermont in 1797. The brothers must have been born in Vermont also. Fascinating website. We were a Scottish Calvinist Protestant family & still are. Anyone has more information on the Gilfillan origins would be of interest.

Hi there, my father Grant Lachance was born in Kingston and lived on Howe Island with his mum and dad. Francis (Frank) Joel and Jean Lucy.
He lived ar 48 Verwood Avenue I think. We have photos of his friend Chuck O'Driscoll.
Although he has been away from the Islands for quite some time he loves the memories your site brings. Thanks for the memories.

I love the website. My Father Is Cecil Thomas Goodfriend and he spent summers on Howe Island as a teen. I understand we still have family there. I would be interested to find out about them (So would Dad). His father was Robert Ambrose Goodfriend, and his Mom was alice Patterson. Dad's had an Uncle George and he has fond memories of Aunt Eva and the her gas station. Thanks for the info
