Looking for information on Gasper Miller from Rowan County, NC

Great website! I was searching your site for possible new information about Gasper Miller from Rowan County, NC. I soon realized that the Gasper Miller that I am tracing is from the other Gasper Miller family that you mentioned that lived at the same time in Rowan County.

After reading the information about Michael Miller and your comment about it odd that he was referred to as being an orphan of Casper Miller, when Casper didn\'t die until 1800-1801, I think that I have some information that may clear up the mystery. Michael Miller is no doubt the son of Gasper Miller and his wife Christiana. As provided in an old family Bible, Gasper\'s son Henry was born 15 Jun 1767 in Frederick, VA near New Town. Henry married Mary Ann Margaret Mauk/Mock (born 24 Aug 1767 at Sandy Creek, Rowan County, NC) on 9 Nov 1794. She was the daughter of Peter Mock, a shoemaker, in Rowan County. The Bible records list that Henry and Mary\'s marriage was performed by Edward Harbin Esq. and took place 8 miles from Shallow Ford, Yadkin River, Rowan County, NC.

The 1800 Census for Iredell County, NC has listed Peter Mock and below his name Henry Miller. Henry had a sawmill in Iredell County. When his wife died in 1814, he moved his sawmill equipment and family to Haywood County, NC.

I did not have a death date for our Gasper Miller. The Abstract of 4 Nov 1788, has provided our family with the year our Gasper Miller died.

Thank you so much

Nancy Fisher

Hi Jim, I\'m a descendant of Adam>David>William>Samual> Samual married Lillian Gertrude Ramsey. A while back you had mentioned on this website that Lillian might be of Cherokee descent. Can you recall where you got that information? It was rumoured as I was growing up and I am now making it my life long mission to find out. I did the DNA test that confirmed I have native American markers. If you can recall where you heard that information I will be eternally grateful!!! Your 5th cousin, Sandi Thompson

I'm just starting a search for my ancestors. I know I'm related to E. Howard Cadle on my paternal grandfather's side. Surnames I'm also related to are Bullington, Miller, Boston, and Hoggart (sp?) on my Paternal side, and Shoemate and patterson on my maternal side. I'm more interested in searching for the paternal surnames as those families hail from Fredericksburg, Greenville, Palmyra, and Hardinsburg. If you have any information or links to which I could navigate, I would appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to put together this site.

I decend from Valentine Conrad (b. 10 Feb 1813, Harrison Co, IN) and Sarah Blume (b. abt. 1818, Harrison Co., IN ). Valentine comes from the Conrad line that migrated to Harrison Co. (early 1800s) from Rowan Co., NC. Although I'm into the genealogy of many Harrison Co., IN, family lines (Conrad, Blume, Stonecipher, Rosenbarger, Keller, Frank, Sherrill, Lopp, Cooper, Ferree, Carroll, Best, etc, etc.), I am also one of the founding members [now a former member] of the Harrison County Cemetery Restoration Team (HCCRT). During that formal capacity I served a number of years as the hstorian and one of the restorers responsible for documenting and restoring many Pre-1880 Harrison Co. gravesites. I have written several books on specific Harrison County Cemteries located in the Frederick P. Griffin Center for Local History and Geneology library at Corydon, Indiana.

My husband is a direct descendent from Jacob Miller 1720-1782 through his youngest son, Henry Charles. I was looking for Donegal Twp which I had always associated with Pennsylvania. I'm adding info to his family tree through Ancestry. Terrific site!

Thank you for this website. It has been extremely helpful in my family's geneaology and it has been very interesting to read about the local history which sadly doesn't get taught in schools anymore because it doesn't meet standards. I'm still not sure that there is a connection between the Richard Wright of Washington County and my mother's Wrights from North Carolina but it made for interesting reading anyway.

My grandmother is Magdalena Elizabeth Miller b5/11/1886 in Harrison Co., IN. Her father was Rudolf Henry Miller b 10/14/1833. I don't know their birthplaces but many of my relatives are from Harrison County, IN and came from Rowan Co., NC. I wonder if she is related to any of the Washington County Millers.
