Re: Beware of Nickelodeon!!!

I think Deuteronomy Chapter 32; verse 5, sums up the world today... "They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children, they are a perverse and crooked generation"

Didn't mean to preach, but I think it fits!

Nickelodeon Special On Homosexuality Set To Air Tuesday

June 18, 2002

(CNSNews.com) - A favorite of millions of American children, the Nickelodeon network Tuesday night will air a program about homosexuality and same-sex parenting, featuring an appearance by talk-show host Rosie O'Donnell, who recently disclosed her own homosexuality.

The Nick News special is entitled, "My Family Is Different," and will also feature a homosexual New York City firefighter who is a father of three. Children will be asked whether they think homosexuality is morally wrong and whether they believe laws are needed to protect homosexuals from discrimination. The program airs at 9 p.m. EDT.

Earlier this month, David Bittler, senior communications director for Nickelodeon, defended the network's programming decision.

"The fact of the matter is that kids are not finding out about these things through Nick News," Bittler said during an interview with CNSNews.com. "Nick News realizes through its contacts and through the headlines that these are issues that are around and need to be explained to kids so that kids can have some information and make up their own minds."

Peter LaBarbera, a senior policy analyst with The Culture and Family Institute, said he participated in the Nickelodeon special, but has hoped all along the program would not be aired.

"When we were interviewed, we said, 'we would rather you not do this show because we do not really believe it is appropriate to be talking about homosexuality to kids,' LaBarbera said. "But our rationale was that if this show was going to go forward, we needed to have a responsible viewpoint telling the truth about homosexuality because kids are going to need to hear that."

LaBarbera also said he felt his group was misled. "We had no inkling whatsoever that Rosie O'Donnell was going to be on the show, and if we did know that, we would be much more likely to think, 'hey this is going to be weighted in favor of homosexuality.'"

The Traditional Values Coalition (TVC), which is leading the conservative opposition to the Nick News presentation, said it has learned that the program will report that millions of children live in same-sex families.

"Homosexual activists have a long record of lying about their numbers for political gain," said Andrea Lafferty, executive director of TVC, said. "We've published a special report showing how homosexual groups have tried to manipulate census statistics for political gain.

Lafferty also said the television program's inclusion of groups like the Human Rights Campaign and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Alliance show that Nickelodeon is furthering the homosexual agenda.

"Nickelodeon's alignment with the Human Rights Campaign and GLSEN prove that this cable network no longer deserves the trust of America's parents," she said.
