When & where you first heard Sawmill Creek?

I heard Bruce in Billings, Montana in 1987 playing at Drifters Club! The finest western band I\'ve ever heard. On my birthday in October of that year, they played a Moody Blues song for me.

On my birthday in October of 1987 they played a Moody Blues song, Nights in White Satin for me and they sounded better than the Moodies ever did! This was at the Drifters Club in Billings, Montana. Sure do love the tunes Bruce wrote.

45 wonderful years of knowing Bruce and listening to the Sawmill Creek band. Just notified of his passing. Trying to find the right words is like \"bathing in the desert in a sandy dryed up stream \". Love to the family.

Born in Jackson Hole (raised in Dubois) in the 70\'s so I grew up w the wild western windblown band and Jack speaks of memories of Cody...

... dancing to \'Bru Hau and the boys\' & partying after hours @ the Bronze Boot,
(probably when he rode his horse into the bar)
... witnessing Bruce as he penned Willow,
... the sound man dubbed a live cassette for him that played in his truck for years on end (until he met me, that is😉) but my kids recorded over (of course- his favorite) Willow. Sooooooo I never gave it back.
I recently came across said tape broken in a storage box and the spirit of Christmas giving (and guilt) led me here to purchase the replacement -- BEFORE I finally fess up, lol!

Great music and fun times, especially when you guys played for our party. we set you up in our back yard in north Phoenix desert country. Had a us a nice steak dinner and then partied until the cops shut us down. A great memory from sometime in the 70\'s! Thanks for all of that.

I was a bartender at Haddocks Harbor back in 81-82 when you played there and packed the bar, 3 deep, standing room only. Those were some wild and crazy days back them. Good memories. I bought all the albums you had out back then and still have them. It would be awesome to see yall perform one more time. If you ever get to Texas...

Well, well, here are a couple hints. We stole the show at the\"Bank\", the one over the \"John\". Red satin shirts with red, white, and blue striped \"trou\"?
I still have my leather spangled vest made by \"the Roberts family\". Oh an here\'s one; \"Flamin\' Hookers\" setting on the bar at the \"Red-O\" while on break from our gig at the \"Rogues Inn\"?
And of course Gene Miller at the \"Purple Cat\" where we recorded the song you wrote \"EASY RIDER RIDE ON\". ( I may still have some of that tape somewhere?)
Well I could type on for hours rememberin\' some great and crazy times, like \"Legs Diamond\" and her \"bathtub\" at the old Abilene Hotel. LOL!
Yeah old friend, I thought of you often over the years. We had a four piece country band here in Manhattan for about 18 years called \"CountryJoy\". In about \'88-\'89 I had my own band for 2-3 years called \"Cottonwood\" 6 piece, fiddle and steel, bass, rhythm, lead, drums. The day job got really busy and I had to fold it up. I was lovin work though. Spent 13 years as a Video Producer for the College of Education at K-State. Retired a few years back and remarried. Wife and I had a small 5 piece called \"Gabby and the Guys\". Played once a week in Salina and Junction City. Had to retire a year ago. Couple of us just got a little to old and brittle!
Sure hope your enjoying life. My blessings to you, your family and brother musicians. May you have health, happiness, and stay safe under \"Gods blue sky, and watchful eye\".
Forever your friend,
Max W. Pfrang

I googled your site a year ago and corresponded with Bruce, and wondered when he was going to get his music on MP3 format so I could get it on the internet. I guess he hasn\'t done it yet, because I still check every 1-2 months. I live in Colo. now and would still like to listen. Please get it on the internet. Jim

If this the Bruce I met in Junction City in the early \'60 I wanted to give you a shout-out and congratulations for keeping with country and your music. It has been a very long, long time from then the now. I played until the mid \'70, went to law school and have now retired but back living now in Manhattan. Remember our old road man Igor??
Love you new music. Your old fan, Chuck Harper
