I have stayed at Makaha Valley in 1980 and again in 1993 (loved it). I am currently looking into trying to purchase a unit, and would appreciate any info, such as recent selling prices, what people are renting for (either weekly or monthly), condo fees, recent pictures, and or any info about the surrounding areas (I imagine things have changed a bit in the last dozen years!)

Hi Terry,

My first answer concerning the high maint. fees for the AOAO is rather simple. This is Hawaii. The cost of getting anything done here is very expensive.

Beyond that you would need to request copies from the management company of the financials and BOD mins. if you want to know where the fees are spent.

I am VERY concerned about the high HOA fees associated with MVP. I did a quick calculation and determined that the income generated from the HOA fees approaches $250,000 PER MONTH. I am a former President of an HOA here in San Diego and NEVER saw the level of HOA fees I see at MVP. Are there management documents supporting these incredibley high fees? I do not see where that much money is going each month. The MVP HOA fees are triple those of any place similiar here in San Diego and I know that wages are far higher here state side than in Hawaii. What gives?
