Mimi's Guestbook

This site seems to have struck a chord with people I haven't met, judging from the number of hits. If you have any thoughts to share, I'd love to hear them.

Thank you for posting your Diary. My Father in law is in Florida in hospice care for lung cancer. He ended chemo when it made him feel worse than the cancer. Before he moved to Florida with his oldest son, he made and paid for his funeral and signed DNR orders. When he got to the point thay he wasn't controlling whay came out of his mouth, he said some pretty hurtful things. No one warms you that will happen.

My Mom is in a nursing home in Texas with terminal pancreatic cancer. Her cancer was potentionalty operable, but she refused. I have medical power of attorney and have signed DNR orders and have already chosen the funeral home and details, because I knew the longer it goes, the less I'd be able to handle it.

Thank you for giving me an idea of what to expect.

My father is dying of appendiceal cancer at the age of 59. My stepmom has just been diagnosed with the same cancer as your father. I'm the only person who can take care of them. I'm scared about eveything! I'm very sorry about your loss, your story has helped me a lot.

I feel so lost. My mother was dx w/ lung cancer June 06..after 36 lung radiation treatments, 15 whole brain, 6 mos of chemo and cyberknife for the 3 sm. tumors in her brain she has conceded to hospice. She is only 48 and it is the hardest thing I have or will ever do in my life. She is having seizures now and still staying strong..she is a fighter but we know it's not much longer as she is talking of her final wishes..this is so hard and reading your blog here has let me know I (we) are not alone..and you can come out the other side....so thank you for sharing

Your story and mine sound almost identical from diagnosis to treatment to medications taken. My mom was diagnosed June 11th and died September 9 of this year. I am heartbroken.
Thank you for sharing your story.
God Bless

Dad is dying from brain cancer. I think he has maybe a week or two left. I am sorry for your loss, and mine. I am trying to come to grips with life without Dad, and found great comfort in your website. Thank you for sharing.

I looked after my dad, as you did--he just 'stopped breathing' in July 2005.
I now have terminal lung cancer, metastatic to jaw am still at home and receiving chemo to try and 'slow' it. Gonna send 'link' to my kids who live away! Then they'll know it's okay to experience different feelings and 'move on' with their lives when I go--it was a lovely and honest journal Mimi--thank you for it! x

I recent had surgery and chemo for lung cancer.Your oncologist is in left field there are a lot of side affects of Taxotere I know because I have had several and all chemo drugs have bad effects some they don't even know about yet.He is lying.Chemo drugs are toxins.I'll pray for your Dad and your family.Go on internet to check out drugs before taking or giving.Sometimes the treatment is worse than the disease.Stay informed and demand that they give you the info you need.Remember you are paying THEM.not the other way around

You kept a wonderful and uplifting journal. My husband was diagnosed with lung cancer July 2006 and we were told it was terminal in December 2006. Your journal with such open and honest observations and feelings has helped me more than you can know. I am going to book mark it, so that I can return to it as our struggle continues. Bless you for taking the time to share this with me. (Nadine is an absolute doll) ~Colleen

I was so very touched by your journal. I am going through all of this right now as I type this. My friend was taken into hospital last Friday and diagnosed with terminal lung cancer then. It has already spread to almost every place in her body and we do not think she will leave the hospital. Just 2 weeks ago she seemed perfectly fine. I just can't believe that she will be gone soon. Thank you for letting me read your journal. I only wish I could take the time to write my own. You are a very good person.
