I served with "C", 2/27 Wolfhounds from March 1967 to November 1967 after being transferred from the 9th Division. Our company commander, Captain Riley Pitts, was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for his actions in October 1967. I was an M-60 machine gunner and a rifleman. I would like to hear from my fellow grunts.

From 1961-1963 I was assigned to Engineer Platoon, HHC, 1st BG, 35th Inf (25th Infantry Division) Schofield Barracks Hawaii.

Hoping to locate & connect w/fellow Vets who were deployed to Thailand in 1962 (Cacti or Wolfhounds). I'm trying to document my service in Thailand, since it's not listed in my 201 file.

What would be helpful would be Orders, Morning Reports, Company Rosters, Duty Rosters, Pictures or other official documentation attesting to the fact that I and my unit participated in the JTF 116 operation in Thailand in 1962.

Camp Holloway RVN

On Nov. 11, 1966, I was on a Crew Chief on a chopper from the 170th AHC on resupply and evacuation in support of the 25Th who were getting hit pretty badly. We were in and out all day, and my ship was the only one to not get hit or crashed. We were on our way back to Holloway when we were told to go pick up a passenger at Plei Djerang Special Forces Camp. We crashed near the POL area, and both pilots , Capt. Smith and Major Callanan were killed on impact. Myself and the door gunner PFC Down, were thrown out with relatively minor injuries. A few days later there was an awards ceremony at Holloway, where I received a Bronze Star with \"V\" device. I later left the country via the hospital and was unable to clear post. The Bronze Star was never put on my records. At the time I did not care that much about it, but now I would like to prove that I did receive it. There were many of your soldiers present there also receiving medals. It is a long shot, but maybe someone out there has a copy of their orders which could possibly have my name on them as well. I have tried everything!!! Contact me if you have anything, by e-mail or even phone 1-207-703-0764. In any event I must say it was an honor serving with all of you guys that day and I must say that you went through HELL for sure!! Thanks and welcome home to all of you!! Joe

Will never forget Cu Chi and Red Hat.....It was a honor to serve with the 25th as they (Wolfhounds) protected us during the last night in Cu Chi. I was in Como so we were the last to leave. We had no weapons and were probed by some VC walking through the company area. Looking for anyone who served during this time. God Bless and WELCOME HOME.....

For a book and County monument, I am seeking information on PVT Jay P. Newsome, who served with Company A, 27th Infantry Regiment, and was killed on New Caledonia on June 5, 1944.
